A League Men Matchweek 19 Tips & Preview

The A-League men 2021-22 season just keeps on keeping on, as no matter the disruption, Football still finds a way to play.

Another big week of catchup football followed by some famous fixtures such as the (postponed) Melbourne Derby between City and Victory on Saturday night.

You never know what you’re going to get in any given week of the A-League, but one thing we can assure you is our never-ending mission to find you a winner in our tips and preview.

Be sure to come back during the week as we update each game with our best value plays.

Wellington Phoenix and Over 2.5 Goals @ $4.20

Both the Jets and Nix will be keen to get back on the winner’s list when they meet on Friday night.

Newcastle’s form of recent has been poor, having lost their past three games and gone four matches without taking the full three points.

The Nix, on the other hand, prior to their 2-1 loss to Brisbane Roar last week has been in good form and find themselves knocking on the door of the top six.

A win against the Jets on Friday night could see them back in contention.

These two sides met just over a week ago when the Nix got the job done over the Jets 2-3.

Given that the 2.5 goals market has hit in the past 15 out of 16 games involving the Newcastle Jets in the A-League, expect this one to have a few get in the back of the net and the Nix to get in the six.

Take the Nix/Over 2.5 goals double in this one.

Draw @ $3.50

Mudgee gets a taste of the A-League action with an NSW derby between the Mariners and Bulls on Saturday.

The Mariners have gone three games without a loss, with their past two hit-outs being draws including a 0-0 one on Tuesday night against the Glory out West.

Macarthur had a solid 3-1 win at home over cross-town rivals the Western Sydney Wanderers last weekend, putting them into the 4th spot on the A-League table and will be keen to strike up consecutive victories.

The two teams did play a thrilling 3-3 draw earlier this season, so here’s hoping the locals are treated to another entertaining contest.

Draws have been all the rage for the Mariners over the past fortnight, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they strike another Draw over in Mudgee on Saturday.

Back the Draw.

Western United @ $4

One look at the market and I am staggered that Western United is paying $4 to beat Sydney FC away on Saturday night.

Sydney FC finally managed to get back on the winner’s list after three losses on the trot with a solid 2-0 victory over Perth Glory last weekend.

Having said that, Western United split the points against Melbourne City last week, have gone nine games without a loss and sit second on the A-League table.

Punters like Sydney FC in this one, I don’t.

I’ll gladly take Western United at the $4 on offer thankyou very much.

Both Teams to Score and Over 3.5 Goals @ $2.75

After some rescheduling, as is custom for just about every A-League fixture, we finally get to another instalment of the Melbourne Derby between City and Victory.

Melbourne City has a chance to find themselves on top of the league should they get a point or all three against bitter rivals Victory.

While you would expect City to win this one, who are the clear $1.75 favourites in this game, just about anything and everything can happen in these contests.

The most recent meeting was a 2-2 draw thanks to a late goal from Nick D’Agostino from Victory in the Christmas Derby, and prior to that, they played out a 1-1 draw behind closed doors which never gives this game justice and here’s hoping we never see that again.

One thing you can expect is goals and lots of them in a Derby.

Take both teams to score and the over 3.5

It should be a beauty!

Perth Glory @ $2.45

Here’s hoping that one day this will be a clash between two sides wanting to avoid relegation but in the meantime, we’ll make do with 11th placed Brisbane Roar heading to Perth to face 12th placed Glory.

Both sides will see this as an opportunity to get off the bottom, but Brisbane Roar will be up and about, coming off a 2-1 win over the Nix last weekend.

Perth Glory has had a tough year and have gone six games without a win.

Their last victory was over Brisbane Roar back on February 20th.

Given it seems the Roar doesn’t like playing away, with consecutive seven losses on the road if the Glory are going to get a win – this is their chance.

Back the home team.
