2022 Vinery Stud Stakes Tips

The Vinery Stud Stakes is typically one of the more open Group 1 features of the season, and a classy field of three-year-old fillies will step out at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday afternoon.

Multiple previous winners at the highest level are engaged, but it’s the undefeated Queensland raider Gypsy Goddess who has opened our early favourite in Vinery Stud Stakes betting.

Suggested Bets

  • 4 Units straight out #6 Gypsy Goddess
  • 1 Unit E/W #9 Gin Martini
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Vinery Stud Stakes - Winner
No. 6 Gypsy Goddess

This is easily the toughest task of her career to date, but Gypsy Goddess has been nothing short of outstanding since debuting, and I am confident that she can win the Vinery Stud Stakes.

Gypsy Goddess flashed late to score on debut at a big price in October and simply hasn’t looked back, improving with each start and as the bar has been raised.

She resumed with an utterly dominant effort over a mile at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago and she will only be better second-up and out to 2000m.

Vinery Stud Stakes - 2nd
No. 2 Hinged

Surround Stakes winner Hinged can return another competitive performance in the Vinery Stud Stakes.

The daughter of Worthy Cause has been a strong and consistent performer for the Waller yard since debuting, and it is fair to say that she has gone to another level this time.

She followed up her maiden Group 1 win with another impressive effort for third in the Coolmore Classic last time out, and the 2000m looks ideal at this point of her preparation.

Vinery Stud Stakes - 3rd
No. 1 Yearning

She has stripped fitter for two starts back this time, and breeding suggests that Yearning will be very effective over 2000m in the Vinery Stud Stakes.

By Snitzel and out of the multiple Group 1 winner Rising Romance, Yearning recorded a shock win in the Thousand Guineas during her spring prep, beating home some of her age group’s best gallopers.

So far this time she has finished third in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco and fifth in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes, and she’ll have the bonus of Tommy Berry in this saddle this week.

Vinery Stud Stakes - 4th
No. 9 Gin Martini

A filly who I thought was overs at Vinery Stud Stakes odds of $31 is Gin Martini.

Gin Martini needed the run when she finished down the order in the Belle Of The Turf Stakes at Gosford after a freshen-up, but she responded with consecutive wins at Canberra and Newcastle.

She takes her place in this contest rock-hard fit and following a nice effort for third in the Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic, and she is drawn to receive a lovely run under The Galaxy winner Robbie Dolan.
