2022 Randwick Guineas Tips

Two feature races headline Saturday’s metropolitan program in Sydney, but the time-honoured Randwick Guineas shapes as a particularly exciting contest.

Classy colt Anamoe has returned to the races in typically smart form this time, but he will need to be at his very best to overcome this talent-rich Randwick Guineas field.

You can find my complete 2022 Randwick Guineas Tips below.

Suggested Bets

  • 6 Units straight out #1 Anamoe
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections below

Randwick Guineas - Winner
No. 1 Anamoe

I am not ashamed to say that Anamoe is amongst my favourite horses, and I am more than happy to have him on top of my 2022 Randwick Guineas tips.

The Street Boss colt placed in both the Neds Blue Diamond and the Golden Slipper in his two-year-old prep, and he ticked off his first Group 1 win in the Inglis Sires’

In the spring, he added the Neds Caulfield Guineas before ending his prep an incredible close second in the Cox Plate, while he takes winning form into this race following a smart win in the Hobartville Stakes.

Fitter third-up and out to a mile, he’s primed to win again.

Randwick Guineas - 2nd
No. 3 Hilal

I am confident that the mile is Hilal’s best trip, and given his impressive run for second in the Hobartville a fortnight ago, I’m happy to have him in behind Anamoe in my Randwick Guineas quinella.

The Fastnet Rock colt ended his two-year-old season with consecutive second placings in the Inglis Sires’ and the Champagne Stakes, and while a Group 1 race continued to elude him in the spring, he did manage to take out both the Stan Fox Stakes and the Bondi Stakes.

He has improved noticeably for each of his first two back this time, and he is ready to peak on Saturday.

Randwick Guineas - 3rd
No. 4 Coastwatch

He brings a different formline into the Randwick Guineas, and as long as he handles the heavy track, I think that Coastwatch can fight out the finish as well.

Coastwatch was a consistent performer in the spring, winning the Group 3 Ming Dynasty most notably before placing in the Golden Rose.

His first-up run and win in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes at Caulfield suggested that he has returned to the races a more furnished prospect this time, and I think he could be the one at a better price to trouble the likes of Anamoe.

Randwick Guineas - 4th
No. 6 Ranch Hand

Typically, champion trainer Chris Waller is playing a very strong hand in the 2022 Randwick Guineas field, and Ranch Hand is another galloper who can make an impact.

He has always hinted at above average ability, but he did begin to show some good form at the end of his spring prep, including a credible fifth placing in the VRC Sprint Classic.

So far this time, he has finished second in the Eskimo Prince and fourth in the Hobartville, and he is ready to do something third-up on Saturday.
