The main event fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev has been cancelled but we still have a good card of fights in Las Vegas this week.
The Fight Night is now headlined by the enigmatic Johnny Walker who will be taking on the exciting prospect Jamahal Hill at the UFC Apex.
Our full UFC Fight Night: Walker vs Hill Tips & Preview can be found below.
Johnny Walker won his way into the UFC through Dana White’s Contender series in Brazil and he burst onto the scene with three first round KO wins which had UFC fans very excited.
This included a beautiful spinning backfist KO in his home country.
It has not all gone to plan since then however and he comes into this fight having lost three of his last four admittedly against tough opponents.
He faces Jamahal Hill who is another very exciting prospect in the Light Heavyweight division.
The only loss on Hill’s record in 11 professional fights came at the hands of Paul Craig who is a very tough and experienced mixed martial artist.
While the loss will go down as a TKO it does come with the asterisk of Hill’s dislocated elbow which made it tough to say the least.
He came back from that loss with a first round KO win over Aussie Jimmy Crute to close out 2021 in December.
This is a really interesting contest between two exciting prospects and the fight will take place on the feet.
I give Hill the edge in this regard and he can continue on his way up the Light Heavyweight rankings.
Kyle Daukaus came into the UFC with a perfect record of 9-0 but not all has gone to plan since then.
The brother of UFC Fight Chris Daukaus, has won just once of his four fights inside the promotion but this includes a no contest against Kevin Holland in October 2021 after an accidental head clash.
Daukaus was originally lined up against Julian Marquez but will now face Jamie Pickett at a catchweight.
Pickett won a UFC contract through the Dana White Contender Series but then went on to lose two in row.
He has since strung together two decision wins and gets a real opportunity in this fight.
Daukaus is a BJJ black belt and eight of his 10 wins have come via submission so he clearly has the advantage should the fight hit the canvas.
He also has an edge on the feet with his dirty boxing and Muay Thai style in the clinch especially and I’m confident he can find a way to win inside the three rounds.
We head to earlier in the card where we find Aussie Jess Rose Clark who comes into this fight on a two fight win streak.
Jess tore her ACL in a TKO victory over Sarah Alpar in September 2020 but she proved she has returned in great shape when beating Joselyne Edwards via unanimous decision in October last year.
The Aussie Bantamweight will take on Swiss fighter Stephanie Egger who made her MMA debut back in 2015 and has fought just eight times for six wins.
She is a longtime black belt in Judo having forged a successful career in that discipline before eventually joining the UFC promotion in October 2020.
Jess Rose looks a determined and focused fighter right at the minute and although she is capable with her BJJ, if she can avoid going to the canvas for prolonged periods of time she will do enough on the feet to cruise to a decision win.
