Daily Racing Tips – Hobart Cup Day Edition

Hobart: Race 5 (2:23pm AEDT)
No. 4 Noztrabeel

Noztrabeel charged home to record an impressive maiden win last time, and he looks well placed to make it two in a row at Hobart today.

The four-year-old son of Nostradamus has had three starts since resuming this time, improving noticeably with each and breaking his maiden stylishly last time out.

He is one of only two previous winners engaged in this contest, and he can strike again.

Hobart: Race 6 (3pm AEDT)
No. 1 Fivefingerdiscount

Fivefingerdiscount hasn’t returned a poor effort since debuting, and he can record another win at Hobart.

The Pins gelding won on debut for Patrick Payne in November and finished second in races at Sandown and Sale in the wake.

He has been transferred to the care of Joel Flannery since that last appearance, freshened, and a recent trial suggested that he is ready to fire again.

Hobart: Race 7 (3:40pm AEDT)
No. 4 More Than Exceed

This is a decent edition of the Thomas Lyons Stakes and I think that a horse like More Than Exceed can have an impact at a price ($16 at publish).

More Than Exceed has mixed his form a little in three starts back this time, but his effort for fourth behind the likes of Open Minded at Caulfield two back was good, and this is a drop in class from his most-recent run for sixth in the Listed Barton Stakes.

He steps out today in peak order, he’s drawn ideally, and we can have an each-way play at the price.

Hobart: Race 9 (5pm AEDT)
No. 4 Lord Belvedere

Lord Belvedere has had just two starts for Annabel Neasham, and while he is yet to strike, I am confident that he will relish the conditions of the Hobart Cup.

The eight-year-old son Archipenko has picked off plenty of nice races throughout his career, and there’s no doubt that he’s stripped fitter for his first two back this time.

We know how good he can be at his best, getting out the mile and a half is ideal I think that it’s the perfect race for him.
