Newcastle: Race 4 (4:05pm AEDT)
No. 1 Celtic Harp

Celtic Harp has stripped fitter for two starts back this time, and he looks ready to break his maiden when he steps out at Newcastle this afternoon.

The No Nay Never gelding needed his first run back to tune up when sixth, beaten nearly six lengths at Canterbury, but I thought that there was a lot to like about his work late at Warwick Farm last time.

Fitter third-up and back to provincial level, he might not be offered a better opportunity to win.

Sandown: Race 2 (4:15pm AEDT)
No. 2 Throntari

There are a few nice horses engaged in the second at Sandown this afternoon, but I am going to stick with Throntari, dropping back to the midweeks.

Throntari finished fourth, beaten a length at The Valley when resuming, and she was unlucky to only just miss in BM70 company at Caulfield last time.

Fitter third-up, she can continue her rise through the grades by winning this.

Newcastle: Race 6 (5:15pm AEDT)
No. 3 Mydeel

Mydeel can record another win at Newcastle this afternoon.

Mydeel is yet to return a poor effort in his four-start career, ending his last prep with a nice win in maiden company, and resuming this time for another classy win at Muswellbrook.

This is a rise in class, but harbours plenty of upside, and it does look to be the next logical point of call.

best bet
Sandown: Race 7 (7pm AEDT)
No. 6 Logan Street Lion

Logan Street Lion looks beautifully placed to strike second-up at Sandown this evening.

The Tavistock gelding has been a consistent performer for the Waller yard since debuting, and he record to the races with an eye-catching effort to only just miss here at the beginning of the year.

He strips fitter, is drawn ideally and is my best bet of the day.
