Nerone will take plenty of improvement into his second campaign start at the Yarra Valley today, and he’s ready to strike.
The Hallowed Crown gelding had a couple of starts in decent company in early spring and was put away, and I thought that there was a lot to like about his resuming effort this time for third at Cranbourne.
He strips fitter and this looks an ideal target for him.
High Done takes winning form into the seventh at the Yarra Valley today and looks well placed to make it two in a row.
The High Chaparral gelding took a few to get going earlier in his prep, but his recent efforts have suggested that he has found top gear, and include two wins and a second placing from three starts.
He gets some relief in the weights under Sheridan Clarke and he is drawn to receive a lovely run.
This is one of the more open races on today’s Yarra Valley program, and a horse like Thunder Pace has genuine claims on winning at a lovely price ($12 at publish).
Thunder Pace has mixed his form a little recently, but his last-start effort at Cranbourne was eye-catching, and he was unlucky not to win.
He’s rock-hard fit and we can have an each-way play at the price.
He faces a rise in class and will need some luck in running after drawing awkwardly, but Carry On Camping looks to be a decent type, and he can record another win at the Yarra Valley today.
The three-year-old son of Shalaa didn’t show a long on debut at Geelong July and was immediately turned out, but he trialled well in the lead-up to his return and put the writing on the wall with a dominant win in maiden company here.
This looks a great opportunity to begin his rise through the grades.
