Doomben: Race 2 (1:43pm AEDT)
No. 4 Tamilaide

This is a drop in class for Tamilaide, and is he primed to return to winning form.

The Adelaide gelding has returned to the races in typically competitive form this time, placing at Ipswich and Eagle Farm before finishing a credible sixth in The Wave at the Gold Coast a fortnight ago.

He is rock-hard fit, drawn ideally and will take a power of beating.

Randwick: Race 6 (3:20pm AEDT)
No. 4 Toomuchtobear

Toomuchtobear has returned to the races in typically strong form this time, and he is primed to strike again at Randwick this afternoon.

The Press Statement gelding has been a good horse for the Waller yard since debuting, missing a place only once in nine starts and winning four times.

His first-up effort this time was excellent, he was unlucky not to win again on New Year’s Day, and I think that getting out to 2000m at this point of his prep will prove absolutely ideal.

The Valley: Race 6 (3:40pm AEDT)
No. 11 Sharp Response

Sharp Response only just missed when a head second behind Clemenceau at Flemington first-up, and he looks well placed to go one better at The Valley today.

The Maurice gelding stamped himself as a galloper to following during his debut prep, finding form around some good horses and winning twice.

His first-up effort this time suggested that he has furnished into a stronger horse, and he is primed to strike under these conditions.

Randwick: Race 8 (4:40pm AEDT)
No. 9 True Detective

The Carrington Stakes has drawn an open field of gallopers, and a horse like True Detective rates as a key winning chance at a lovely price ($16 at publish).

He has been a little frustrating for punters throughout his career, but there is no denying True Detective’s ability when he puts it all together, and that was the case when leading home a BM88 field at Rosehill first-up a fortnight ago.

The form out of that race has been franked with second-placed Tycoonist running second in the Magic Millions Snippets last weekend, and this looks a lovely feature race for True Detective.
