Daily Racing Tips – Friday, January 14

Geelong: Race 2 (2pm AEDT)
No. 10 Savonia

Savonia hasn’t been far from the winner in a few races in town, and she looks well placed to break her maiden at Geelong this afternoon.

The Shalaa filly resumed with a competitive effort to fill the minors at Sandown in December, and she has since stepped out twice more, including a credible fourth at The Valley last time.

She looks to be at peak fitness and on exposed form, she is the one to beat.

Geelong: Race 6 (4pm AEDT)
No. 1 Port Royal

Port Royal steps out in the sixth at Geelong today fit and ready to win.

The Captain Gerrard gelding charged in to score a comprehensive win at Benalla two starts back, and he overcame some trouble to finish fourth at Warrnambool last time out.

He gets some relief in the weight today under a claiming apprentice and he is drawn to receive every chance.

Cranbourne: Race 4 (7:15pm AEDT)
No. 6 Sonofthebeast

I was impressed with Sonofthebeast’s debut effort, and I am confident that he can break his maiden at Cranbourne tonight.

The son of Maurice settled off the pace here a fortnight ago and let down with an impressive turn of foot to only just miss.

He’ll enjoy plenty of improvement for that experience and with even luck, this looks his chance to strike.

Cranbourne: Race 5 (7:45pm AEDT)
No. 6 Honeycreeper

Honeycreeper has returned two competitive efforts since resuming and is primed to strike at Cranbourne.

The Godolphin-trained galloper has been a consistent performer in town throughout her career, and she has so far placed in races at Warwick Farm and Flemington this time.

With Jamie Jah in the saddle tonight, she is my best bet of the day.
