For the first time in months, the PBR takes us away from Rockhampton this weekend and the country’s best cowboys and bulls will be in action in Mackay!
The PBR Mackay Invitational kicks off at 8pm AEDT on Saturday, and Neds is your exclusive destination for betting on the toughest eight second in sport here in Australia.
Yet to do the form? Don’t worry! I’ve done all the heavy lifting for you in my PBR Mackay Invitational Tips below.
Lawson Nobbs arrives in Mackay following an impressive performance in Rockhampton which heralded an overall third placing.
Nobbs has been riding well and quite consistently for a couple of seasons now, and his performance last week suggested than an event win isn’t far away.
He does have his work cut out for him this week in a quality bull (Rockslide), but given the form with which the young cowboy is riding, I’m happy to roll the dice on the upset.
Troy Wilkinson returned a competitive performance at last week’s PBR event, and he too looks capable of an upset win over his ride, Roam Aviation High Risk.
It has already been a good season for Wilkinson, who has podiumed several times as well as captaining New South Wales in the recent Origin series.
His Round 2 ride for 83 points was one of the better efforts of the night, and he climbs aboard a bull in Roam Aviation High Risk who has won only one of his last two bucks.
Lachlan Richardson only just missed the podium in Rockhampton last week, and I think that he can stay in this contest with the talented Roid Rage for a long way.
Alongside Aaron Kleier and Kurt Shephard, Richardson has been a standout performer of the last couple of PBR Australia seasons, and puts himself into the contest at nearly every event.
Roid Rage is yet to be defeated at a PBR event and while I am confident that Richardson is his toughest opponent to date, I think he’ll keep alive his unbeaten record.
Brady Fielder finished an agonizingly close second in Rockhampton last week, and he looks a great bet again at even money ahead of his match with Reloaded.
Fielder was unseated late in the picture in his Round 1 ride, but responded with impressive efforts for 86 and 88 in Rounds 2 and 3.
A repeat of either performance would surely see him beating Reloaded, whose recent form has been inconsistent at best.
Macaulie Leather has returned some lovely performances this season, but he has the unenviable task of climbing aboard Razor Sharp this week, who returned the second-highest rated performance in Rockhampton last week.
Leather finished ninth in Rockhampton last week, but has struck well a couple of times in 2021, and won the Rockhampton event back in May most notably.
I think that Razor Sharp will win this match after only a few seconds.
He is about as safe as you can get in the PBR, and I see no reason why we shouldn’t have our standard head-to-head bet on Aaron Kleier this week.
The reigning PBR champion’s form in 2021 has been typically stunning, and he has been winning events more often than not.
He was kept quiet in Rockhampton last week, but I am confident that will only lead to a more dominant performance in Mackay.
