$15 million goes on the line at Royal Randwick on Saturday when some of the world’s best sprinters contest The Everest.
Nature Strip, Classique Legend and Eduardo are but a few of the names making up The Everest field this year and as always, it shapes as a fascinating betting race.

- 4 Units straight out #6 Masked Crusader
- Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
He’ll be spotting them all a start as he typically does, but I am happy to stick with Masked Crusader in The Everest.
The Toronado gelding has always hinted at above-average ability, but he finally started to realise his potential in autumn this year when winning the William Reid Stakes and finishing a luckless second in the TJ.
He has won two of three starts back this time, highlighted by a stunning effort in the Premiere Stakes a fortnight ago, and he strikes The Everest in peak condition.
Eduardo will take up the running in The Everest on Saturday and he’ll be tough to run down again.
The Host gelding has gone to another level since transferring to the care of sprint king Joe Pride, breaking through for his first Group 1 victory in The Galaxy in autumn and going to the paddock after adding the Doomben 10,000 to his CV.
He returned an eye-catching performance to beat plenty of these rivals home in The Shorts when resuming this time, and he’ll only improve for that effort.
There are few horses as strong and consistent at this level as Gytrash, and I am confident the Group 1 winner can and will return another big effort in The Everest.
The Lope De Vega gelding has missed placing only twice in twenty-five career starts to date, recording an impressive ten wins, highlighted by his triumph in the Black Caviar Lightning last year.
He kept all of his best work for late when third, beaten only a length and a half by Eduardo in The Shorts, and I like that he has been back to the trials since that effort.
Home Affairs is the sole three-year-old in The Everest field this year and I think that he’ll run a cheeky race.
The I Am Invincible colt won the Silver Slipper and placed in two other black type races during his two-year-old campaign, and he returned to the races with a dominant performance and win in the Heritage Stakes late last month.
His second-up record is unblemished, he gets into The Everest well under the conditions and Glen Boss rides from a good draw.
