Premier League Game Week 5 Tips & Preview

Premier League Game Week 5 Tips & Preview

We head into Game Week 5 of the Premier League with just one point separating 1st from 7th on the ladder.

Liverpool will look to put pressure on a host of title contenders with a convincing display against Crystal Palace on Saturday night (AEST).

While Ronaldo hopes to build on his dream return to United with a couple of goals against the Hammers, before Tottenham hosts Chelsea in a must-watch London derby.

Our Premier League Profit Prophet has preview all 10 games this weekend and provided his best betting plays below!

NEWCASTLE VS LEEDS
SGM: Leeds + Over 2.5 Goals $3.21

Newcastle plays host to Leeds on Saturday morning (AEST), with both sides desperate to secure their first win of the season.

The Toons will be without their biggest goal threat in Callum Wilson, who is nursing a thigh injury.

The Whites completed the double over Newcastle last season, scoring seven goals to two, with six different Leeds players hitting the scoresheet.

Neither side has been competent without the ball this season, Newcastle has conceded the most goals this season (12), with Leeds not far behind (11).

Despite playing at home, the Toons are set to face a hostile crowd with fans fed up with just about every facet of the club.

I’m backing Leeds to kick start their season with a high-scoring victory at the expense of Steve Bruce’s managerial career.

WOLVES VS BRENTFORD
Wolves $1.94

Wolverhampton are searching for their first back-to-back league victories since April when they snuck past the now relegated duo of Fulham and Sheffield United.

Since then, Wolves have managed to secure just two wins from 10 league fixtures (7L,1D), while failing to score in six of those matches.

Brentford shot out of the blocks in their return to the top flight with a 2-0 victory over the Gunners, since then the Bees have lacked any sting, scoring just once over their next three matches.

Despite the results not all falling their way this season, the Wolves have been playing high-quality football and should make easy work of the visiting minnows here.

LIVERPOOL VS CRYSTAL PALACE
Liverpool to Nil $1.95

The Reds are eyeing off a 15 game undefeated run in the league dating back to last season (10W,4D) while extending their PL winning streak against Crystal Palace to nine games!

Since August 2017, Liverpool has outscored the Eagles 24 goals to 5, while winning their last three meetings 13-zip!

Virgil Van Dijk’s return to action has paid immediate dividends for the scousers, who have conceded just once across their opening four fixtures.

Even though Crystal Palace had a field day against a 10-man Spurs unit last time out, surviving this fixture without a 5+ goal blowout and a healthy squad will be seen as a win for Vieira’s side.

MAN CITY VS SOUTHAMPTON
SGM: Man City (-1) + Win to Nil $2.07

Southampton travels to Manchester where they are faced with the daunting task of lining up against the current champs of England.

City has been dominant in Manchester of late, with their last three Premier League home fixtures finishing as 5-0 victories!

In fact, the Saints’ last appearance at the Etihad Stadium saw them ship 5 goals, with both Mahrez and KDB nabbing a brace each.

The Sky Blues’ defense has been equally as impressive of late, winning their last three league games to nil, allowing just one shot on target across the trip.

I’m tipping the Saints’ forward line to play no part in this contest, with the Citizens cruising to a multiple-goal victory.

BURNLEY VS ARSENAL
Arsenal $2.00

Gunners’ fans across the globe rejoiced last weekend when their side elevated above the relegation zone thanks to an emphatic 1-0 victory against newly-promoted Norwich!

Now the former PL giants have been given another huge opportunity to impress what remains of their fan group, with what looks to be a very winnable fixture at Turf Moor.

Just like last season, Burnley has been unable to register a win over their opening four league fixtures, with a dull home draw to Leeds in GW3 their only “highlight” thus far.

The Clarets squad possesses the size and strength to really trouble the Gunners feeble back four, with set-piece defense just one of Arteta’s many Achilles heels!

Aubameyang’s eight goals against Burnley is the Gabonese striker’s largest tally against any Premier League side.

Thanks to some brilliant tactical managing by Arteta last campaign, the Gunners have avoided all European football this season, allowing the struggling franchise to focus solely on restoring respect in the league.

Burnley is a top contender for relegation this season and despite the Gunners being a shell of their former selves, $2 in the H2H market is just too tempting to pass up!

NORWICH VS WATFORD
Watford $3.40

At first glance, Norwich vs Watford looks like a filthy stain on an otherwise adequate weekend of footy, but upon closer inspection, this fixture could play a huge part in deciding who lances up for the 2022/23 top-flight season.

After firing nothing but blanks against the Gunners last week, the Canaries find themselves alone at the foot of the table with zero competition points!

Watford surprised everyone by putting three goals past Villa to record a victory in their first fixture back in the PL, since then they have fallen to three straight defeats without registering a goal!

The Hornets completed the double over Norwich last season in the Championship, extending their winning streak against Farke’s side to four matches.

Despite Watford’s recent dominance in this fixture, the bookies are favouring the winless home outfit, anyone paying $3.40 against the Canaries is a good bet for mine.

ASTON VILLA VS EVERTON
Everton $3.00

Just four games into his Everton tenure and Rafa Benitez has the Toffees’ faithful forgetting that he was ever affiliated with their Red neighbours.

10 points from the opening month of football has the Toffees sitting equal first on the table and six points clear of Aston Villa in the bottom half.

After bringing in over $170m worth of talent during the off-season, things are yet to click for Aston Villa, with injuries and quarantine periods severely hampering their new squad from building any sort of continuity.

Once again the bookies aren’t reading too far into current league form, pricing the confidence-filled Toffees as $3 outsiders, thank you!

BRIGHTON VS LEICESTER
Both Teams to Score (No) $1.87

Brighton vs Leicester is billed to be one of the most intriguing fixtures of the round, with the Seagulls currently holding slight favouritism despite never besting the Foxes in the PL.

Graham Potter’s side has gotten off to their best-ever start to a Premier League campaign, claiming three wins across their opening four fixtures, though impressive on the surface, the Seagulls have been dealt an extremely favourable hand, facing two of the three newly-promoted outfits along with the soon to be relegated Clarets.

Alternatively, the Foxes are 2-2 this season after narrowly losing out to the Sky Blues 1-0 last weekend.

Brighton is winnerless across all eight previous meetings with Leicester in the top-flight (6L,2D), with their last victory against the Foxes coming in the Championship back in 2014!

Though history may be on their side, the Foxes have looked less than convincing over the past month, poor form coupled with a Europa League fixture two days prior to this match has me steering clear of the H2H market.

Both teams NOT to score has hit in four of the previous five meetings between this pair, while the same market has gone off in Brighton’s last four fixtures!

WEST HAM VS MAN UTD
Man U & Over 1.5 Goals $2.05

Man United will be eager to bounce back with a strong performance here following a surprise mid-week defeat in the UCL.

They will be facing a West Ham side who are without their leading goal scorer Michael Antonio after he saw red in his team’s stalemate against Southampton.

Antonio’s absence reads poorly for the Hammers, who have won just 28% of their fixtures when the talisman hasn’t started.

The Red Devils currently hold the PL record for most consecutive away games without defeat (28), impressively keeping 19 clean sheets across the trip!

Since departing Old Trafford in 2014, David Moyes has failed to defeat his former side across seven meetings (5L,2D), a curse I’m backing to continue here.

TOTTENHAM VS CHELSEA
Chelsea to Win + Haverts SoT $2.43

Game week 5 wraps up in the capital, as Tottenham host Chelsea in a highly anticipated London Derby.

Following a promising start to the season Tottenham came crashing back down to earth with a gutless performance against the Eagles in GW4.

Nuno’s side looked flat without the Son Heung-Min on the pitch and will likely be without their energizer bunny for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, Chelsea continues to move from strength to strength, with the addition of Lukaku shoring up their only weak spot on the pitch!

The Blues have dominated this fixture in the past, last losing to the Spurs back in 2018!

I’m backing Chelsea secure their third straight away league win against the London rivals here, with Kai Havertz to test the keeper at some point across the 90.
