Bojack will take plenty of improvement into his second campaign start at Wyong this afternoon and can return to winning form.
The Snitzel gelding had just two starts during his debut prep, but stamped himself as a runner to follow in winning at Gosford most notably.
He kept his best work for late when third in BM64 first-up this time, and I like that he has been back to the trials since that effort.
This is an open edition of the Mona Lisa Stakes and there is a case to be made for several runners, including Charleise.
Charleise was nothing short of outstanding throughout her recent autumn and winter prep, winning three of her six starts and finishing second on the other occasions; taking out the Listed Spear Chief in Brisbane most notably.
Her fresh record is excellent, and Louise Day has options from the rails draw.
The Wyong Gold Cup has also drawn a wide-open field of stayers and I am eager to have an each-way play on one at a price – Taikomochi.
Taikomochi clearly needed the run when he finished eight in the Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury when resuming, but I am confident that he’ll take big improvement for that effort, and getting out in trip certainly won’t hurt.
Timmy Clark rides, and he should be able to find a nice position from barrier 8.
Pearl Roan will take winning form into the last on Wyong Gold Cup Day and looks well placed to score again.
The daughter of The Factor ran on to finish fourth, beaten a length and a half by Bright Rubick at Muswellbrook two starts back and couldn’t have been more impressive at Newcastle last time.
She’s rock-hard fit and a repeat of her last-start effort would see her winning again.
