COVID has forced the postponement of several events recently but finally, the PBR is back in action in Rockhampton this weekend!
Australia’s best cowboys will climb aboard Australia’s meanest bulls in the Beef Capital on Saturday, and as always, the PBR Rockhampton Invitational looms as a fascinating betting event.
I’ve had a look into the form of every cowboy and bull, and you can find my complete 2021 PBR Rockhampton Invitational Tips below.
I think that there is a real opportunity at value early on the program this week, and I think that Lane Mellers can beat Super Natural.
Mellers has returned several pleasing performances this season, and he takes his place in Rockhampton following a smart effort for fourth at last weekend’s Burnett Heads event.
He climbs aboard a credible opponent in Super Natural, who was last seen losing to Brady Fielder here at Rockhampton.
I’m expecting a similar result.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see senior bull rider Lachlan Richardson win this match with Gangster’s Retreat, but I do understand why the bull holds favouritism and I am going to have something on a couple of ride duration bands.
Richardson has returned several typically strong performances and results in 2021, and he enters this event in winning form after finding success at Burnett Heads.
Gangster’s Retreat has made just two appearances at the PBR so far, interestingly ridden by Lawson Nobbs on both occasions for a win and a loss.
I am going to back to bull to win this contest in the 6-6.99 seconds ($12) and 7-7.99 seconds ($11) bands.
Lawson Nobbs has found excellent form this season, and he looms as a key winning chance in Rockhampton, particularly in this match with Pay Cheque.
Nobbs returned an outstanding performance to guide Queensland to success in the second Origin event in Cairns in July, his second event win of the season.
Pay Cheque is making his PBR debut in Rockhampton, and I am happy to take him on under an in-form cowboy like Nobbs.
We’re only getting $1.65, but given the level at which Aaron Kleier has been riding this season, I think that is still a good price.
Kleier has been in a league of his own for a couple of seasons now, and quite often if he has appeared in the form guide, he has podiumed.
He was far too good here in Rockhampton in late July and he climbs aboard Milky Way Man this week, who was covered by Kurt Shephard in his last appearance in July.
At publish, we’re faced with a square market of $1.82 each side for Macaulie Leather and Get A Haircut, and I am happy to back the bull.
Leather has been very good this season, there is absolutely no denying that – he has scored at seven of eight attended events.
Get A Haircut has been in similarly strong form, however, and following Leather’s effort at Burnett Heads, I’m happy to stick with the bull.
Rockhampton’s own Caiden Sandilands jumps into the ring with Mixed Culture this week, and it is fair to say that he faces a tough task.
Sandilands’ effort here prior to the COVID break was good, but he failed to cover at bull at Burnett Heads.
Mixed Culture has tossed the ride under 3 seconds in each of his last six appearances at the PBR, and I am happy to follow that trend.
