The Moir Stakes kicks off an enormous weekend of racing at The Valley on Friday night and a classy field of Group 1 talent has been confirmed.
Though the likes of Nature, Masked Crusader and Eduardo are all up in Sydney, horses like Profiteer, Brooklyn Hustle and Wild Ruler will step out on Friday and the Moir Stakes represents a terrific betting prospect.

He has hinted at Group 1 talent since making his debut, and I’m confident that Wild Ruler can convert his first win at the highest level in the 2021 Moir Stakes.
The Snitzel entire has picked off some good races throughout his twelve career starts so far, and he returned in Sydney at the beginning of the month to finish second behind Nature Strip in the Concorde Stakes.
Even though that horse has since been defeated, he’d be going around a very short favourite here, and I am confident that natural improvement will see Wild Ruler into the finish regardless.
Three-year-olds have a terrific record in the Moir Stakes, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see Profiteer in the winner’s stall on Friday.
The Capitalist colt enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence during his autumn campaign and owned one of the more dominant wins of his age group when giving his rivals windburn in the Inglis Millennium.
He was last seen finishing a credible seventh in the Golden Slipper, and he has reportedly flourished in his time away from racing.
I thought that September Run was the run of the race in the Group 2 McEwen over this route when fresh, and she’ll take plenty of improvement into the Moir Stakes.
The Exceed And Excel mare was an impressive winner of the Coolmore Stud Stakes last spring, and she was unlucky not to add to her CV in the autumn.
Her resuming effort suggested that she is in for a glittering prep, and this Moir Stakes does look a lovely race for her.
She tends to race extremely well fresh and she loves The Valley, so I am happy to have Brooklyn Hustle in my Moir Stakes first four.
The Starspangledbanner mare has always been thereabouts since her two-year-old season, and she returned several typically pleasing results in her autumn and winter prep earlier this year, highlighted by her Group 2 victory in Brisbane.
A recent trial suggested that she is forward and ready to go again, and I’m confident that she will be in the finish.
