We have a fantastic card of racing at Royal Randwick this Saturday afternoon with plenty of stars of the turf on display.
Our full 2021 George Main Stakes Day Tips & Preview can be read below.
These Highway Handicaps are usually won by a horse on the improve with a heap of upside and Nadaraja fits that profile well.
The three year old gelding could not have been much more impressive when winning by over five lengths at Scone last start and he has drawn perfectly in barrier three.
Atishu was excellent when making his Australian debut first up over 1400m here at Randwick in a win in a similar grade of race to this.
He was a beaten favourite last start over 1500m but she lost few admirers and she is the one to beat.
The Annabel Neasham trained Military Expert is a colt with a fair amount of ability.
He broke through for his maiden win as the short priced favourite at Newcastle two starts back before finding one better at group 3 level last start at Kembla Grange.
He has drawn perfectly in barrier three and will take a power of beating.
Soami has been racing very consistently throughout this prep so far and he followed back to back wins with a narrow defeat behind Kordia and Yiyi last start at Kembla Grange.
The step back to 1400m looks ideal and although he has drawn a tricky gate, he will again be a winning chance.
It was impossible to ignore the first up run of Aramayo at a big price in the Tramway.
The six year old gelding was no match for Zaaki but he was the stand out horse in the beaten brigade and the stable sticks with 1400m here at Randwick in the Bill Ritchie Handicap.
Private Eye was an impressive winner at group 3 level first up and was simply too far back at Kembla Grange last week.
He savaged the line late in that race and has won seven of 11 career race starts.
Can bounce back to winning form here.
Both runs this time in from Najmaty have been full of merit and once she found clear running in the Furious Stakes she attacked the line well to get within 1.5 lengths of Jamaea.
She was just as far back as Four Moves Ahead at the 400m but was forced to weave through the field and take a wider trip home and she went over the line at the same time as that filly.
We are getting $10 about Najmaty and Four Moves Ahead is near enough to favourite in the Tea Rose Stakes.
Verry Elleegant was excellent when narrowly beaten in the Group 1 Winx Stakes first up and she is going to take some beating on Saturday in the George Main Stakes.
There are a couple at a nice price that I’d like to chuck in for second and third.
Star Of The Seas was not at his best in the Winx Stakes but he was flashing late in Tramway behind Zaaki.
Hungry Heart almost lost her footing when James Innes decided to inexplicably force his mount Think It Over onto her and it had domino effect on three horses.
I like the fact that she has had a trial in between runs and she can run into the placings.
I know there is a Group 1 on the card but the Group 2 The Shorts is the most intriguing race of the day at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Nature Strip almost went to another level last prep but his only defeat came at the hands of Eduardo in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes at this track.
NS will have the fitness edge over Eduardo, and may just have too much speed, but one is barely in the black and one is $9.00.
Eduardo won both the Group1 Galaxy and Doomben 10,000 during his last prep and his two trials leading into this first up assignment were enormous.
Montefilia wasn’t sharp enough to be winning over 1600m first up in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes but she was doing her best work late in the piece to finish third.
The step up in distance suits her now in the Kingston Town Stakes and Hugh Bowman retains the ride for the first time since the early in the autumn carnival.
Best Of Days is going far better than his form suggests on paper having been beaten less than 1.75 lengths in both starts so far this prep.
It usually takes him a few runs to get going through his prep although he doesn’t win out of turn, the $14 available is over the odds.
Kerrin McEvoy steers from barrier four.
Let’s box these up in the last and try and end the day on a big winning note.
