Daily Racing Tips – Tuesday, August 31

Hawkesbury: Race 1 (1:20pm)
No. 1 Daysan

European import Daysan clearly has a lot of ability, and he can record his first Australian win at Hawkesbury this afternoon.

The Temple City gelding raced well during his debut prep in the UK last year, and he raced home well to finish fourth on debut for Kris Lees at Scone.

He’ll take plenty of improvement for that effort and can win something like this.

Ballarat: Race 2 (1:30pm)
No. 8 Diamondsandpearls

Diamondsandpearls is ready to win when she steps out at Ballarat this afternoon.

The Rubick mare is now a six-start maiden, but she has shown decent ability since debuting and has placed on three occasions.

Sher ran a credible second at Mildura when resuming earlier this month and can go one better this afternoon.

Ballarat: Race 6 (3:30pm)
No. 3 Tanker

I’m keen to take on the odds-on favourite in this contest, and I think that Tanker is the horse that can do the job for us.

Tanker hasn’t quite reached the levels that his two-year-old campaign suggested that he could, but he has returned to the Maher & Eustace stables plenty of good results throughout his career.

I’m confident that he’ll take plenty of improvement from his credible fifth placing at Sandown and we can have an each-way play at around the $8 mark.

Hawkesbury: Race 7 (5:05pm)
No. 6 Fox Fighter

The early scratching of Oh Please Dianna has opened up the last at Hawkesbury today from a betting perspective, and a horse like Fox Fighter is now right in the mix.

Fox Fighter has been a strong and consistent performer since resuming, placing three times and breaking his maiden at Kembla Grange.

He’s rock-hard fit and this does look to be the next obvious target.
