We’re off to the Beef Capital of Australia on Saturday for the PBR Rockhampton Invitational.
Queensland wrapped up this year’s Origin series with a dominant win in Cairns a couple of weeks ago, but the buck was highlighted by several standout performances by cowboys from both states, and they are all back in action in Rockhampton!
I’ve run the rule over the entire program, and you can find all of my thoughts and PBR best bets below.
I’m going to open my account at the PBR Rockhampton Invitational with what looks to be a pretty safe bet – Aaron Kleier covering Vertical Limits.
He has been a star since arriving on the PBR Australia scene, but Kleier’s form in the last couple of seasons in particular has been nothing short of outstanding, and he arrives in Rocky off the back of a dominant performance as captain in Queensland’s successful Origin bid.
Vertical Limits is undefeated in two appearances for the PBR this year, bucking off Sam Spencer and Trefor Sproule, but this is a big rise in class for him.
I think that Kurt Shephard can be in this contest for a long way, and I think that it looks like a great opportunity to get involved with Ride Duration Bands betting.
Shephard’s form in 2021 has been excellent; he returned eye-catching efforts in each of the two Origin events, and he interesting topped the podium the last time that the PBR was here in Rockhampton.
Ice Man will be making his debut, but word is he is a fiery customer, and I’m going to give him plenty of respect here.
On face value, the $1.55 available for Code Blue might appear short, but I actually believe that he is over the odds, and I am happy to take the price
Code Blue was effectively covered by Lawson Nobbs in Cairns, but his form prior to that effort was good, and included wins over some of the tour’s best cowboys.
Fielder has returned some eye-catching efforts of his own recently, but I think that he has met his match with this bull.
Lachlan Richardson has returned some eye-catching efforts in 2021, and this match with Cree looks a very winnable one for him.
Richardson was a strong and consistent performer on the PBR Australia tour last year, and while he has mixed results a little in 2021, his effort for New South Wales during Origin 1 in Brisbane was particularly impressive.
Cree hasn’t been seen at a PBR event this year, but he proved to be a tough opponent last season and enters this on a nine-event streak.
Betting suggests that this will be one of the more one-sided matches at the Rockhampton Invitational, and I am going to have another crack at Ride Duration Bands betting.
Hometown boy Josh Cavanagh hasn’t been seen in action since early June, and while he did manage to place ninth at that event, is snapped a long run of outs.
Bad Moon has made a habit of unseating his opponent within the 2-2.99 second band, and that’s exactly where I’m looking again this week.
Lawson Nobbs looks to be in career-best form and I’m confident that he can cover Gangster’s Retreat on Saturday, at a nice price.
Nobbs ended the 2020 season with a credible effort for fifth at the Grand Finals, and he has continued to improve with each buck this season, culminating in a very impressive solo win at the Origin 2 event in Cairns most recently.
He climbs aboard Gangster’s Retreat here, who interestingly has made just one appearance at the PBR; a loss to Nobbs at the Elite PBR event in late May.
Lane Mellers looks to have found some good form, and I think he can cover Dizzy Limits at the PBR Rockhampton Invitational.
Mellers strengthened Queensland’s bid in Origin 1 with a couple of scoring rides, and he played his part in Cairns as well.
Dizzy Limits did manage to unseat Lachlan Richardson at his most recent appearance, but only just, and I think that Mellers is primed to strike.
