Group 1 racing returns to Albion Park on Saturday night and the inaugural edition of The Rising Sun has drawn a talented field of pacers.
There is a case to be made for several entries, but The Rising Sun betting suggests that it is a race in two between Krug and Expensive Ego.
We’ve run the rule over every pacer, and you can find our complete 2021 The Rising Sun Tips below.
Suggested Bets
- 3 Units straight out #1 Krug
- Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Krug’s recent form has been typically outstanding and The Rising Sun looms as the perfect feature race for him.
The son of Bettor’s Delight has missed placing only twice in twenty-three trips to the races so far, winning fourteen times and finding form around some of Australasia’s best pacers.
This is obviously a step up in class, but he was last seen destroying his rivals over a similar trip at Redcliffe and is drawn to receive a lovely run again on Saturday.
He is a clear second pick in my opinion, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Expensive Ego run into The Rising Sun quinella with Krug.
Expensive Ego has recorded an impressive sixteen wins and three placings from his twenty-one career starts so far, and he recorded a bullish win in the Group 1 Australian Pacing Gold Final at Melton in May most notably this time.
He enters this contest off the back of another smart win over 1660m here and with even luck, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.
Copy That has returned several typically pleasing efforts recently and looks a nice bit of value in The Rising Sun betting at around the $8 mark.
Copy That was caught in traffic with nowhere to go at Cambridge in New Zealand two starts back, but he arrived back in Australia and at Albion Park last weekend for an eye-catching win over a mile.
I don’t think he can go with the top two fancies in this contest, but I think that his class will take him a long way towards placing.
He faces another pretty decent step up in class, but it’s hard to argue with winning form and I think that Spirit Of St Louis is good enough to finish in The Rising Sun first four.
He has recorded three wins from as many starts back from a spell, and he made the most of an ideal run in transit when finishing over the top of the leaders here last time.
He’ll take further improvement into the race and can lay another strong account for himself.
