Euro 2020 favourites France are back in action tonight and group minnows Hungary are the next nation on the chopping block.
They boast one of the competition’s and indeed the world’s best team sheets, but it took a Matts Hummels own goal for them to seal a win over Germany on Matchday 1.
Regardless, I have no doubt that they will improve for that effort, and stepping back in class.
Hungary were outplayed by Portugal on Matchday 1, and they enter this match off the back of a comfortable 3-0 loss.
I think they’ll find it tough to score, let alone win.
The match of the weekend looks like coming up in Munich tonight when Portugal takes on Germany.
The Portuguese were clinical on their way to an easy 3-0 win over Hungary on Matchday 1, led of course by a lovely brace from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Germany were on the backfoot early in their match with France, and barring a luckless own goal, they kept the potent French attack goalless.
There is quite clearly a case to be made for both sides here, but in Germany and with every thing to play for, I think they’ll be winning.
Spain can get themselves back in contention in Group E by beating Poland on Matchday 2.
They enter most major tournaments towards the top of outright betting and despite starting clear favourites in their campaign opener, they failed to break the Swedish defence and were forced to settle for a point.
Given they were probably lucky not to concede as well, it’s onwards and upwards towards Poland, who are also desperate to win.
They boast one of the world’s best marksmen in Robert Lewandowski, but the Polish lost a man and their opening match against Slovakia, and they are now well and truly behind the eight ball.
I can’t picture things getting much better for them here, but I think that they can get on the board again.
