Euro 2020 Tips – Saturday, June 12

It’s a year later than its original booking but finally, Euro 2020 kicks off this weekend!

Europe’s best are chasing one of world football’s most highly-coveted international trophies, and we’ll be treated to world class action and more importantly, terrific betting throughout the next four weeks.

Turkey vs Italy (5am AEST)
Under 1.5 Goals ($2.65)

Euro 2020 begins with what looks to be a pretty decent mismatch between Turkey and Italy.

Turkey manager Senol Gunes has selected a confident and disciplined side for their Euro 2020 campaign, who proved in qualification that they are extremely difficult to get the better of.

Italy haven’t won the Euros since the late 60s, but they are consistently amongst Europe’s best footballing nations, and they occupy the fourth line of tournament betting at odds of $8.

On paper, there is an obvious class difference, but I also believe that Turkey will relish their underdog status, and they simply cannot be written off.

It is rare that a competition opener ends in a blow-out, and I think the value lies in Over/Under goals betting.

Wales vs Switzerland (11pm AEST)
Both Teams to Score - Yes ($2.20)

The second match on Saturday looms as an intriguing battle between Wales and Switzerland, and there is a genuine case to be built for both nations.

Led by Gareth Bale, Wales have enjoyed something of a golden patch at international level since the last Euros, but their entry into this tournament hasn’t been as smooth as it could have been, and they’ve only battled at their last few friendlies.

Switzerland meanwhile have returned several pleasing efforts in the lead-up to their Euro 2020 campaign, and they have won six matches in succession.

I’m not particularly confident in backing either side to win, so I’m going to take the value on offer for both teams to find the back of the net.
