Kempsey: Race 2 (12:30pm)
No. 11 Asherla

Asherla will take plenty of improvement into her second campaign start at Kempsey today and she can break her maiden.

The Kris Lees-trained filly finished second at each of her first two career starts last prep, but she clearly needed the run when she returned from a spell to finish sixth at Muswelbrook.

She’ll take plenty of improvement for that effort and this looks the perfect race for her.

Kempsey: Race 4 (1:40pm)
No. 3 Lord Avatar

Lord Avatar has returned two competitive efforts since resuming and is ready to win at Kempsey today.

The Poet’s Voice gelding returned several competitive efforts last time in, and he has so far placed in Class 2 company at Port Macquarie and BM66 company at Taree this time.

Fitter third-up, he’ll take plenty of beating in something like this.

Kempsey: Race 5 (2:15pm)
No. 4 Condover Hall

Condover Hall is another runner who might not be offered a better opportunity to win than this.

The Mastercraftsman gelding has been a model of consistency recently without winning, and he enters this race off the back of an agonizingly close second in BM66 company at Taree.

He’s rock-hard fit and with even luck from out wide, he’ll be hard to hold out.

Kempsey: Race 7 (3:30pm)
No. 1 Juventus

Juventus has been charged with carrying topweight in the Wauchope Cup, but he also has a class edge over these rivals, and it looks the perfect race for him.

Juventus has been a great horse for the Lees stable throughout his career, and he has typically contested tougher races than this one.

He needed the run when he finished eighth, beaten four lengths at Randwick when fresh, but he harbours plenty of improvement and will relish the drop in class.
