We had an absolute fill-up last Saturday in Sydney when we tipped the trifecta in the last race of the day and we are looking to repeat that dosage this week.
Our full Randwick Race Day Tips & Preview can be found here.
I was impressed by the Chris Waller trained Conexy when he ran second behind Overpass at Gosford first up and I like the fact they have dropped him back in distance for this assignment.
Hopefully he can start our day off on a winning note.
It takes a certain progressive type of horse to win these Highway races and Don’tforgetmonica fits this profile well.
The lightly raced four year old mare has won three of her 10 starts including a Highway race in her last start by over two and a half lengths.
It has been a while since Stockman was in the winners’ stall but the four year old gelding is very capable at this level of racing.
He was excellent in behind Polly Grey in the Listed Lord Mayor’s Cup at Rosehill last start and the step up to 2400m at this stage of his prep is ideal from barrier five.
St Covet’s Spirit has just the one win to her name but the grey mare rarely puts in an ordinary run.
She has been far from disgraced in black type company in her two runs so far this prep and will appreciate the huge step back in grade for this race.
Jason Coyle knows how to place his horses in the Sydney off-season and she represents good value at the double figures.
Stoltz resumes with a stylish win at Wyong over 1000m first up before being narrowly beaten last time out on the Kensington track.
The chestnut gelding showed a really sharp turn of foot when asked for an effort in the straight last start and I was really impressed with the way he fought on late in the race, which is a sign of a good horse.
Wandabaa put together back to back placings at Group level before she ran 6th in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown last start.
It has been a while in between wins for the four year old mare but she consistently performs at a high level and represents good value in this event.
Adelong is another very consistent mare and she comes into this race off the back of back to back placings at Listed level.
$10 is over the odds.
I have a huge opinion of the lightly raced four year old mare April Rain who has three wins and two seconds from five career starts.
The grey mare resumed from a spell at Gosford where she circled the field and reeled in all but Stellar Pauline.
She has earned her trip back into town and anything over even money looks overs to my eye.
Brutality showed a good turn of foot from the tail of the field first up behind Lina’s Hero and followed that effort with an impressive third behind Brandenburg and Nudge last start at Gosford.
Nudge has since come out and won a Group 3 is Brisbane so that form has stacked up well.
He will be required to carry just 52kg in this race and has drawn perfectly in barrier four and just needs some speed on up front.
I managed to jag the trifecta in the last at Rosehill and it paid $1300 so let’s see if we can replicate that again here shall we!
