Super Rugby Australia Round 8 Tips & Preview

Just three weeks remain in the Super Rugby Australia regular season and two potentially crucial matches will be contested in Round 8.

The Rebels and the Force will continue their fight for third position first-up on Friday, before the Reds and Brumbies lock horns in another mouth-watering top of the table clash.

Read on to uncover our Super Rugby Australia Round 8 tips.

Rebels vs Western Force
Rebels (-9.5)

The Rebels will all but sew up third place and ultimately a finals berth by beating the Western Force at home on Friday.

A repeat of what I said last week, but the Rebels have been a step below both the Reds and the Brumbies in 2021, but noticeably better than the Force and (certainly) the Waratahs.

They enter this match off the back of a comfortable loss to the Reds at home, but there’s no doubt that this represents a far better winning prospect for them.

The Force have played the Super Rugby Australia season with plenty of guts and determination, they simply lack the experience, depth and professionalism of most of the other clubs.

It would take a big effort for them to win this match and make the finals, and I’m just not confident they are up to it this year.

Reds vs Brumbies
Reds (-2.5)

Just cannot wait for this one.

Australia’s two best rugby sides and our leading hopes at the forthcoming Trans-Tasman Super Rugby competition will go toe-to-toe at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night, and could very well prove to be the best contest in any sport, anywhere in the country this week.

Both sides have been near faultless in 2021 and contested the match of the season so far in Canberra in Round 4, which saw the Reds sneak away 40-38 victors.

Neither side has looked back, both have been clinical and both will be eager to win bragging rights and potentially, the advantage leading into the Super Rugby Australia finals.

I have held firm with my early season assessment of the Reds remaining undefeated and the Waratahs going winless for the entire campaign, and I’m not going to jump off now!
