Super Rugby Australia Round 10 Tips & Preview

We’ve arrived at the final week of the 2021 Super Rugby Australia regular season!

The Reds have topped the table and will host the decider, the Brumbies are also a lock for the finals, while the Waratahs will not progress past Saturday.

That leaves the Western Force and the Rebels fighting it out for the final position in the Super Rugby Australia Finals both clubs will attempt to secure the slot this weekend.

Western Force vs Reds
Reds (-9.5)

The Western Force have a shot at securing a finals berth in the final round of the Super Rugby Australia competition, but standing in their way is the undefeated, table-topping Reds.

The Force have well and truly overachieved in 2021, and a finals berth would be a bonus on what has been a terrific season, and supportive of claims that they should return as a permanent fixture in top-flight Australian rugby.

They did enough to sneak past the Waratahs last week and allow themselves every chances to play finals rugby, but they’d need to go to a new level to win this.

The Reds have locked in a home Grand Final and will enjoy a week off following this fixture.

While I’d ordinarily be somewhat confident in the Force pulling off an upset given what is on the line for them, the Reds are also seeking to keep alive an undefeated season, and I think they’ll just win.

Waratahs vs Rebels
Rebels (-9.5)

The Waratahs will attempt to end their season with their first win of the campaign against the Rebels on Saturday night.

To their credit, the Waratahs returned one of their better performances of the season to go within a point of the Force last week.

Ignoring that performance, there has been virtually nothing to like about what they have done and some serious work both on the field and in the office will need to be done, to ensure this season doesn’t repeat itself.

The Rebels sit just one point behind the Force in overall standings, and assuming that side loses to the Reds on Friday night, a win will be enough to see them claim the remaining finals berth.

It would take a braver man than me to tip the Waratahs this week.
