Super Rugby Aotearoa Round 6 Tips & Preview

Super Rugby Aotearoa Round 6 Tips & Preview

The 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season officially enters its second half from Friday, and we’ll be treated to another two quality games from the world’s leading rugby nation.

I’ve previewed both, and you can find my Super Rugby Aotearoa Round 6 tips below.

Crusaders vs Highlanders
Highlanders (+18.5)

Just cannot wait for this one.

Regardless of form, standing on the ladder and everything else, this South Island Derby is always a highlight in any Super Rugby season, and we’ll surely be treated to something special in Christchurch on Friday.

How about those Crusaders? They’ve returned to competition in typically slick form and remain undefeated heading into Round 6 of Super Rugby Aotearoa.

That obviously means that they have beaten every other side, and focus now turns to staying undefeated on their way towards a (hopeful) successful title defence.

Standing in their way this week are the Highlanders, a side that more often than not makes up for their overall experience by playing with enormous heart and backbone.

Having lost to the Crusaders at home in Round 1 and recording just one win along the way, they deserve to start as outsiders here, but i think they’ll be competitive enough to finish within 18.5.

Blues vs Hurricanes
Blues (-8.5)

The Blues have been a clear second pick behind the Crusaders during the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season, and they are offered another terrific opportunity to win when the Hurricanes roll into Auckland on Saturday.

The Blues began their campaign in style with a comfortable win over this opponent in Round 1.

While somewhat inconsistent since, they’ve produced plenty of impressive passages of play and the flair that we’ve grown accustomed to, and they’ll be eager to atone for what was a shock loss to the Chiefs in Round 5.

The Hurricanes really are lucky to have gotten off the mark, and they don’t look to be anything of a title threat this year.

I think that the bookies have gotten this one just about right, and I’m happy to take the favourite at an 8.5-point line once more.
