Saturday racing returns to Sandown this weekend with a quality nine race program.
Our full Sandown Tips & Preview for Saturday 23rd January can be found below.
Two year old colt Artorius was last rounding the turn at Geelong on debut and was very green when attempting to chase down the leader Jigsaw.
He was in a bumping dual at one stage but I loved the way he knuckled down to the task late and he looks a colt that will get over some ground.
Jimenez has been racing since mid October and has two wins and two placings to his name in this prep so far.
The lightly raced five year old gelding by Bel Espirit was not far away behind Zac De Boss at Caulfield last start and a repeat of that effort would see him go close here.
I loved the way Run To Perfection worked to the line first up down the Flemington straight from last at the 400m.
The son of Sepoy has been placed three times from five starts at Group or Listed level and he represents great value at his current price of $8.00 at time of publish.
Mosh Music had a long time in between runs between the spring of 2019 and the start of this campaign but make no mistake, she is a high class mare.
She was cramped for room at a vital stage in the straight at Flemington last start which just halted her momentum a touch but she let down well when clear.
The step up in distance is ideal for her and she should be nearing peak fitness at her fourth run after such a long time off.
Four year old mare Quantum Mechanic has form in some pretty handy races earlier in her racing career and her two runs this prep have been full of merit.
She was rocketing home late behind Fundraiser and Caffrey (who I have tipped later in the day) and she should be ready to peak at her third run back from a spell.
Jamie Kah and barrier three are both big positives.
It took a while for Milton Park to wind up when resuming at Flemington but he really let down well to score easily.
He will be fitter for that run and looks well placed again.
Wise Counsel is an open class winner at Caulfield during his first campaign and there are TWO big differences for him heading into this prep.
Firstly, he was gelding.
Secondly, this is short of his preferred distance but he has drawn to get a soft run in transit from barrier four.
Michael Dee took the inside run on the grey gelding Caffrey at Flemington last start and he looked the winner at one stage before the big weight told late.
He meets the winner of that race 3kgs better at the weights for this assignment and with a bit of luck the Peter Moody trained horse will feature in the finish yet again.
King Magnus has managed three wins and three minor placings from 10 career race starts and comes into this race with a fitness edge over a lot of the field.
He was excellent two starts back in a Benchmark 78 at Caulfield when getting within 1.6 lengths of Rule The World over 1400m and a repeat of that performance would see him go close here.
Pariano sat up on the speed in a benchmark 84 at Caulfield last start and looked the winner at one stage before being swamped late.
The daughter of Equiano has won five of her 18 career starts and four of those wins have come at 1000m so she will appreciate the step back in distance for this assignment.
Barrier two and Damian Lane are big positives in his favour.
