Grand Lusitano looked to have some ability during his debut preparation and he can make a winning return at the Sapphire Coast this afternoon.
The Benfica gelding ran home well to finish second on debut at Canberra and was sent to the paddock after filling the minors at Moruya.
On exposed form, he certainly shapes as the runner to beat.
Dip Me Lid has been in excellent form this preparation and strikes another winnable contest at the Sapphire Coast this afternoon.
The five-year-old son of Helmet finished second in three-consecutive races at Canberra and Wagga through November and December, and has since been rewarded for his condition with consecutive wins over 2000m.
He has been charged with carrying a sizeable topweight, but this race really isn’t any harder and he can win again.
Peyton Place will take winning form into the Bega Cup and it looks the perfect feature race for him.
The Carlton House gelding has been a terrific galloper for the Greg Stephens stable all prep, and recorded a lovely win over 1400m at Canberra in October; continuing to perform well on his way towards a dominant win in the Moruya Cup last time out.
This looms as a similar contest to that one and with even luck, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.
Quiano Queen has been arguably found career-best form this preparation and she can win the last on Bega Cup Day.
The Equiano mare returned to winning form with a dominant performance at Wagga three starts back and progressed to a close-up second behind Prince Aurelius at Moruya, before recording another win at the same track last time out.
She is another runner who requires only even luck to be in the finish again.
