Hasseltoff has been a strong and ocnsisntent performer this preparation and looks the runner to beat in the third at Caulfield today.
Hasseltoff has missed placing once in ten career starts since debuting in March last year and his recent form has been typically good, including a win over 1700m and in this grade at HQ two back, and a credible second placing behind High ‘N’ Dry last time out.
The 1800m here looks ideal and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.
Tagaloa was forced back to the paddock after sustaining a minor ailment in the Neds Caulfield Guineas, but he has reportedly relished his time away from the track, and the Manfred Stakes looks an ideal autumn launchpad.
The Lord Kanaloa colt was a revelation during his two-year-old season and won the Neds Blue Diamond Stakes at this track and distance, most notably.
He races well fresh and is just the best horse in this race.
This is an outstanding edition of the Expressway Stakes, but I’m confident that Flit will run a big race fresh, and she is over the odds at her current price ($8 at publish).
The Group 1 winning mare returned to the races in competitive form in spring, finishing second in the Group 2 Missile Stakes at this track and distance first-up and winning the Silver Eagle most notably.
She gets into the race well under the conditions and the booking of Rachel King is bonus.
Tambo’s Mate is far better than his two most-recent results suggest, and I am happy to stick with him ahead of the last at the Sunshine Coast today.
The Mossman gelding is a multiple black type winner and resumed this time for a credible third over this course and distance, before finishing fourth, beaten four lengths by Hard Empire in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes most notably.
He is rock-hard fit for this assignment, is drawn a peach and I like that he is a month between runs.
