Premier League Game Week 13 Tips & Preview

Premier League Game Week 13 Tips & Preview

The Festive Period is here which only means one thing, Premier League on tap!

Game Week 13 gets underway in the early hours of Wednesday morning (AEST) as Chelsea bid to break back into the top four with a win over the Wolves.

Elsewhere, Liverpool look to reclaim their spot on top of the league table when they take on the Spurs, Leicester host Everton in what should be a thrilling encounter and Southampton have a free swing at three points when they travel to the Emirates.

WOLVES VS CHELSEA
Blues + Under 3.5 Goals $2.33

Both sides will be looking to bounce back from surprise defeats in GW12.

Wolverhampton were clearly missing the presence of Raul Jiminez after continuously falling short in the final third against the Villans.

While, Chelsea struggled to breakdown the Toffees five-man defence and were ultimately kept scoreless for the fourth time this season.

The Blues squad depth should have them primed to take advantage of this mid-week turnaround, I’m backing them to take this one in a low scoring affair.

MAN CITY VS WEST BROM
Ferran Torres to Score & City to Win $2.25

West Brom face the daunting task of traveling to the Etihad Stadium, as the newly promoted side search for their second win of the season.

West Brom have conceded the most goals (23) across the opening 12 premier league fixtures, which is a concerning stat when preparing for a match against Pep’s goalscoring monster.

Although, City were kept scoreless for the second time this season when they played out a dull 0-0 all draw in the Manchester Derby over the weekend.

With a misfiring forward line, I’m expecting Pep to rotate heavily against the Baggies, Ferran Torres has hit the scoresheet four time in the UCL and will be primed to open his PL account here.

LEICESTER VS EVERTON
LEICESTER $2.15

Leicester were the big winners coming out of Game Week 12, with everyone around them dropping points, Brendan Rodger’s men put in a huge shift against the Blades, placing them well and truely in the title race.

Everton’s weekend was just as fruitful, following a month in the wilderness, the Toffees tied up Chelsea’s attacking weapons, taking all three points and claiming their second clean sheet of the season.

With the return of Wilfred Ndidi in the centre of the park, the Foxes attacking unit have been unshackled and are looking as dangerous as ever!

Backing Leicester in the H2H market has proved fruitful over the past few weeks and I’m happy to stick to a winning formula.

LEEDS VS NEWCASTLE
NEWCASTLE $4.40

Newcastle head to Elland Rd in a bid to claim their third win on the trot, while consigning Leeds to their third straight league defeat.

Leeds are about as reliable as an alcoholic father figure, despite showing glimpses of brilliance, the newly promoted outfit can’t seem to string together 90mins of decent football.

Alternatively, the Toons have been nothing short of consistant under the reign of Steve Bruce, and will no doubt be ready to put in another shift here.

I’m backing consistency in this one, and at $4.40 Newcastle are massive overs!

ARSENAL VS SOUTHAMPTON
SOUTHAMPTON $3.20

Fourth place plays 15th place at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday morning (AEST).

Most Gunners fans would sacrifice their firstborns to be back in the warm embrace of fourth, instead it’s Southampton who are enjoying a rare spell at the top of the table after cracking start to the season.

The Saints are no longer reliant on set pieces to find their way to goal, with both Che Adams and Danny Ings knocking them in for fun!

Alternatively, Arsenal couldn’t find the back of a net on a crab trawler, managing just two goals from their last eight league outings!

The Gunners have no right being priced as $2.20 favourites here, and I’ll be backing the Saints to cruise to their third win on the bounce.

LIVERPOOL VS TOTTENHAM
Tottenham or Draw $2.00

Liverpool welcome Tottenham to Anfield for a top of the table clash.

Both sides enter this clash off the back of embarrassing 1-1 draws, Liverpool were outplayed early in the fixture against Fulham, while Tottenham were foiled time after time by the Eagles’ shot stopper.

Liverpool have dominated this fixture in the past, winning the last five meetings between the pair including the 2019 Champions League Final, more impressively the Reds have not conceded defeat to the Spurs at Anfield since May 2011.

Worryingly the Reds are scrapping the bottom of the barrel in terms of squad depth, and another injury to Diogo Jota has Klopp’s stocks stretched rice paper thin.

There’s no doubt the Mourinho will have 10 men sitting behind the ball at Anfield, with the intention of releasing Kane on Son on the break.

Despite me having a good feeling about the Spurs chances here, I just can’t tip them with any confidence what so ever, however I’m happy to take the insurance of a draw along with the result at even money.

FULHAM VS BRIGHTON
FULHAM $2.90

Fulham play Brighton with the winner set the claim a vital 6-point swing in the race to avoid relegation.

Following a horrible start tot he season, Fulham have finally found their feet in the top flight, taking points away from both Leicester and Liverpool across the past month, while also putting up admirable performances against the Toffees and Man City.

Alternatively, Brighton have tapered off, claiming just one win over their past 10 outings, with Danny Welbeck continuing to soil himself in countless one-on-one situations.

Fulham have won the last two contests against the Seagulls and I’m backing Scott Parker’s team to climb out of the bottom three with another victory here.

WEST HAM VS CRYSTAL PALACE
West Ham $2.10

Crystal Palace are set to play their 2nd London Derby in as many rounds when they travel down the road to take on the Hammers.

West Ham have been in terrific form of late, winning four from their last five league fixtures, leaving themselves three points outside of the top four.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have been everything but consistant, failing to claim back-to-back wins since Game Weeks 1 & 2.

Roy Hodgson’s side put up a valiant fight to pry a point away from league leaders Tottenham last week, put it may have taken a heavy toll on his small squad with a three day turnaround less than ideal.

I’m backing the Hammers to continue racking up the dubs with another no thrills performance here.

ASTON VILLA VS BURNLEY
Under 2.5 $1.95

Burnley head to Villa park on Friday morning (AEST) in search of their first back-to-back wins of the season.

Sean Dyche’s side snuck over the line against a 10 man Gunners outfit, relying on a own goal from Aubameyang to claim all three points.

Whereas, the Villans knocked off Arsenal 3-0 back in Game Week 7, since then they have won one of their next three contests, with goals coming at a premium.

Only Sheffield United (5) have scored less goals than Burnley (6) this season, and I’m not expecting things to click overnight for the Clarets.

With both teams struggling on the offensive end, I’m happy to take the unders in this one.

SHEFF UTD VS MAN UTD
Man Utd to Nil $2.35

Game Week 13 comes to a close when Manchester United travel to Bramall Lane to collect their three competition points against the Blades.

Chris Wilder has defied all the odds, somehow holding onto his job for another week, his side are the current laughing stock of the league, claiming just one point across their opening 12 fixtures.

Alternatively, Man U are just three points outside of the top four with a game in hand.

Despite all the bad press, the Red Devils boast the best record on the road this season, claiming maximum points from all five fixtures they’ve played away from Old Trafford.

But still it’s Man United…

The Blades average 0.42 goals a game and I’m backing that number to creep closer to Zero come Friday.
