Gosford: Race 2 (2:35pm AEDT)
No. 3 Free State

Free State hasn’t been seen at the races since July, but he looks to be a talented racehorse, and he can break his maiden at Gosford this afternoon.

The Headwater gelding finished second behind Sahra on debut at Kembla Grange and ended his prep third behind Smart Image and Beyliks at Warwick Farm.

This is the easiest task that he has so-far been set, and he’s had the benefit of a couple of nice trials in the lead-up to his return.

Sandown: Race 2 (3:55pm AEDT)
No. 5 Ord

Ord looks to be an above average galloper and can break his maiden at Sandown this afternoon.

The Written Tycoon gelding filled the minors behind Yes Sir at Wodonga on debut and raced home well to finish second at Geelong last time out, albeit well beaten by the winner.

Fitter third-up, getting slightly further out in trip and with Nash Rawiller in the saddle this looks his race.

Sandown: Race 5 (5:40pm AEDT)
No. 1 Chequerboard

Chequerboard is a talented racehorse and can return to winning form in the fifth at Sandown today.

The Fastnet Rock filly won two of three starts during her debut preparation and returned to the races for a credible third behind Hindaam at Bendigo.

She was far from disgraced in the Listed Twilight Glow Stakes here second-up and she’ll appreciate a decent drop in class this afternoon.

Sandown: Race 8 (7:15pm AEDT)
No. 6 O'tauto

It took O’Tauto a few starts to get going this preparation, but he is rock-hard fit and this looks a winnable race for him.

The O’Lonhro gelding didn’t measure up in better races at The Valley and Flemington earlier in his prep, but he ran home respectably to fill the minors at Cranbourne last time out.

This looks to be about his level and the $10 available at publish looks a touch of overs.
