With early favourite Siberia coming out to contest a different race on the program, I now believe that Mr Camacho is the one to beat in the fourth at Hobart tonight.
Mr Camacho has mixed his form a little this time, but his best efforts have been eye-catching, and he has more so been undone by poor draws than anything else.
He’ll get every chance from Box 1 tonight and will prove hard to hold out.
Run And Carry’s early scratching means that first emergency Siberia has gained a start, and I think that he will take beating.
The talented son of Barcia Bale recorded three wins in succession last month, and he has finished fourth at his last two starts, including the Group 3 Devonport Chase Final.
He is rock-hard fit for tonight’s contest and with even luck, he can fight out the finish.
Pages Creek relishes racing from a wider draw and can return to winning form at Hobart tonight.
The son of Fernando Bale charged home to score with ease two and three starts back, but he immediately ran into trouble here last week and I am happy to forgive the run.
The rise in trip looks ideal at this point of his campaign and he will be hard to hold out.
The Hobart Thousand is the only Group 1 race of any code contested in Tasmania, and it has drawn a fittingly outstanding field in 2020, including Tommy Shelby.
Tommy Shelby has been airborne this campaign – he was luckless but still filled the minors in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup Final two starts back, and he absolutely put paid to his rivals in his heat for this race last week.
There isn’t much value left in his $1.75 quote, so I am instead going to select him as the winner in a Same Race Multi and pack out the bet elsewhere.
Tiggerlong Tonk looks to be the clear second pick, so I’m going to select him to finish in the first two, while Wynburn Sheean is arguably in career-best form and can fight his way into the first four.
Our Same Race Multi selections are:
- 8 Tommy Shelby (Win)
- 5 Tiggerlong Tonk (Top 2)
- 3 Wynburn Sheean (Top 4)
