The Hong Kong Vase has been won by some of the world’s best stayers since its inception, and another quality field will seek Group 1 glory at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Exultant has been an above-average racehorse throughout his career, he has won this race previously and perhaps unsurprisingly, he has opened favourite in 2020 Hong Kong Vase betting again.
He and three others can be found in the 2020 Hong Kong Vase tips below.
Suggested Bets
- 2 Units straight out Exultant
- Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Exultant has been the best Hong Kong-based stayer for several seasons now, and he looks the runner to beat again in this Hong Kong Vase field.
The Teofilo gelding has recorded thirteen wins and thirteen minor placings from his thirty-one competitive starts, and he has enjoyed another ideal lead-in to the Hong Kong Vase, finishing second behind Furore in both the Ladies’ Purse and the J.C. Cup since resuming.
With that horse better over 2000m and contesting the Cup, as well as Exultant relishing the rise in trip, I really can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.
As he usually is, champion Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien will be well represented at the 2020 Hong Kong International Races, and Mogul looms as a genuine winning chance for him in the Vase.
Mogul has missed placing only three times in nine career starts so far, and ended an impressive European campaign with a win in the Group 1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris in September.
He arrives in Hong Kong via way of the United States and a credible performance for fifth in the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf, but I am confident he’ll take good improvement for that effort and can fight out the finish of this race.
The locally trained Columbus County has returned to the races in competitive form this time, and he has been set for the Hong Kong Vase.
Columbus County has missed placing just twice in twelve career starts so far, and he won a decent Handicap over 1800m here when resuming before finishing third in J.C. Cup last time out.
He’s another horse that will enjoy getting out to a mile and a half and he simply cannot be underestimated on Sunday evening.
French raider Royal Julius has found form around some quality horses, and the Hong Kong Vase looks a lovely race for him.
The Royal Applause entire finished second, beaten a length and a half in a Group 2 race in Italy when resuming this time before finishing down the order in the famed Arc at Longchamp.
He was last seen finishing fourth in the Group 2 Premio Roma back in Italy and looks to be at peak fitness for the Hong Kong Vase.
