Shima Shine doesn’t know how to run a bad race and can win the first Melbourne Cup Heat tonight.
The son of Barcia Bale has missed a placing just once in his last eight starts, winning four times including the Group 1 Topgun two back.
I’m going to select him as the winner in a Same Race Multi.
For added value, I’m also going to select Zambora Smokey to finish in the first three and Playlist to finish in the first four.
Our Same Race Multi selections are:
- 3 Shima Shine (Win)
- 2 Zambora Smokey (Top 3)
- 8 Playlist (Top 4)
Aston Silk has gone to another level recently and looks the runner to beat this contest.
The daughter of Black Magic Opal has won four of his last five starts, the only miss being in Group 3 company, and she enters this race off the back of an eye-catching effort from Box 6 here last week.
She can go straight to the lead from Box 2 tonight and will give them something to chase.
Handsome Prince has returned to the races in typically smart form this time, and he’ll take plenty of beating in this race tonight.
The son of Sh Avatar has won each of his last three starts comfortably, including a run in particularly slick time at Wentworth Park last time out.
I like that he’s had a look around Sandown Park in a trial last week and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.
Tiggerlong Tonk will take winning form into the sixth at Sandown Park tonight and looks well placed to make it two in a row.
The son of Dyna Double One has been a strong and consistent performer in good races throughout his career and enters this contest off the back of a smart win in the Group 3 Shootout.
With even luck from the central box, he can win again.
