2020 McKenzie Stakes Day Tips & Preview

Racing returns to The Valley this Saturday and we have nine quality races to look forward to.

Our full 2020 McKenzie Stakes Day Tips & Preview can be viewed below.

Race 1: Benchmark 70 Handicap (1600m) 12:55pm
No. 2 Still Be Friends

Still Be Friends broke through for his maiden race win at Benalla last start scoring by a lengthening 3.3 lengths and running a slick time in the process.

Damien Oliver jumps on top for this assignment and hopefully he can start our day on a winning note.

Race 2: Ladbrokes Plate (1000m) 1:30pm
No. 3 Brazen Boy

Brazen Boy absolutely urinated in at his only trial leading into his racing debut.

There were only three in the trial but the son of Brazen Beau went to the line 14 lengths ahead of his nearest rival and he was held together as well!

Race 3: Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m) 2:05pm
No. 1 Ocean's Thirteen

Ocean’s Thirteen has managed four wins from 13 career race starts and does most of her racing with a space in between each run.

The four year old mare was beaten only 1.6 lengths behind Sovereign Award at Group 3 level two back and has again had three weeks in between runs.

Will Price will her her some weight relief and steer from the outside barrier where he can push to get a forward spot.

Race 4: Benchmark 78 Handicap (1600m) 2:40pm
No. 9 November Dreaming

November Dreaming was extremely disappointing last start at Flemington when she faded badly into ninth.

She is a far better mare than that and you only have to go back to her first up win at Geelong to see her brilliant turn of foot when things pan out for her in running.

Craig Williams goes off and Jamie Kah goes on from barrier four.

Race 5: Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) 3:20pm
No. 4 Deep Speed

Deep Speed was a winner of his first two race starts including one at this track and distance by two lengths.

He was far from disgraced when stepping up to black type racing last start but the 1200m looks a more suitable distance.

Race 6: Benchmark 78 Handicap (1000m) 4:00pm
No. 13 All Banter

No one has ridden more winners at The Valley than Jamie Kah in 2020 and she will steer the talented filly All Banter around in the sixth event.

The daughter of All The Talk has now won two of her four career starts including her last start at Morphettville.

Race 7: Benchmark 90 Handicap (2040m) 4:40pm
No. 8 One More Try

One More Try comes into this benchmark 90 handicap off the back of a fourth at Group 2 level behind Affair To Remember.

She was also placed behind Mystic Journey in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes at this track earlier this prep.

Craig Williams retains the ride and they will jump from barrier five.

Race 8: Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) 5:20pm
No. 5 Prezado

Prezado put together three wins on the trot at Headquarters, all over the 1000m, before narrowly being beaten last start.

This is a step up in grade but he is as honest as the day is long and he drops down in weight.

Race 9: Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m) 5:55pm
No. 13 Housay

I have a fair amount of time for the lightly raced four year old gelding Housay who has two wins from just the four career starts to date.

He put together two really dominant wins earlier this prep and he has drawn to get a lovely run in transit from barrier three in this assignment.
