Daily Racing Tips – Port Macquarie Cup Day Edition

Port Macquarie: Race 1 (1:25pm AEDT)
No. 2 Girls Kick On

Girls Kick On hasn’t been seen at the races since May, but she was excellent during her debut preparation and can make a winning return on Port Macquarie Cup Day.

The Scissor Kick filly ran into the minors at her first two career starts, including a second placing behind Zeftabrook in the Wellington Boot, before breaking her maiden at this track and distance.

She didn’t measure up to city company when eighth of eleven at Randwick-Kensington prior to her spell, but this is a big drop in class from that race, and she will take beating.

Port Macquarie: Race 3 (2:40pm AEDT)
No. 11 Sian

Half of the horses in this field will be making their debuts, but Sian showed promise during his brief debut preparation, and I think that he will make a winning return in this race.

The Kris Lees-trained gelding finished fourth at each of her two appearances in May, running into a couple of classy types.

He has returned a couple of lovely trials in the lead-up to this race, and he is drawn to receive a beautiful run in transit.

Port Macquarie: Race 6 (4:35pm AEDT)
No. 3 Burning Crown

The featured sprint at Port Macquarie this afternoon has drawn an impressive field, and I am keen to have something on Burning Crown.

The Helmet gelding was a strong and consistent performer for Sue Grills last time in, and he resumed this time for second over 900m on Newcastle Cup Day.

He couldn’t account for the likes of Athiri, Asharani and Hilo when seventh in BM88 company at Randwick last weekend, but I like that he is on the short back-up, and he is ready to win.

Port Macquarie: Race 7 (5:10pm AEDT)
No. 4 Savacool

Savacool will step out in the Port Macquarie Cup and looks the value at her current price ($7 at publish).

The Savabeel mare has returned to the races in typically competitive form this time, and won the Listed Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury three back; finished sixth in the Premier’s Cup and fourth in the Wyong Cup in the wake.

She is actually in foal to Yes Yes Yes, and I am eager to see what she can do in this race.
