Group 1 racing may have moved to Melbourne for the spring but there is plenty of quality racing still taking place at Royal Randwick this weekend.
Our full 2020 Bondi Stakes Day Tips & Preview can be read below.
The opening race of the day is field full of first starters.
I’m happy to sit this one out from a betting standpoint.
Tiomo is very much overs in the Highway race this Saturday.
The six year old gelding was runner up at Eagle Farm two starts back over the 1845m and was not far away in the Lismore Cup last start.
This is good enough form to be competitive in a race of this quality and worth an each way bet at the $26/$6.50.
Destination has really gone to another level this prep with a win and three consecutive placings so far.
We was only narrowly denied at Listed level behind Wild Ruler last start and a repeat of that effort would see him winning this race.
Criaderas looks a pretty smart one having now won four of his five career starts.
He showed his turn of foot when coming from last at Randwick last start and although this is a big step up in class, he has only a limited amount of horses to beat and gets in well at the weights.
This is a really tough race with almost the entire field a winning chance.
Seven of the nine runners opened in single figures but I’m happy to be with Scarlet Dream who has been building toward something this prep.
She should be ready to peak at her fourth run in and it wouldn’t surprise to see her win.
Elizabeel strung together two impressive wins when coming through the grades earlier this prep before missing by half a length last week behind Forbidden Love.
Jason Collett decided to take an inside run when stratening and then asked the three year old filly to come over heels at a pretty crucial stage in the race.
She picked back up and found the line really nicely and she looks like she will handle to step up to 1600m with no problem.
Wandabaa is a high class race mare who has barely put a hoof wrong this prep.
Kris Lees has been happy to keep this mare in the stables for a long time and you don’t blame him as she continues to race well every time she is asked.
She was beaten just over a length in the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle and her recent trial suggests she is still going well.
Hilo has just the three wins from 14 career race starts but he has never been far away in his races.
He has returned two nice runs so far this prep, running into the very smart Fituese first up and the in from Athiri second up.
He should be ready to peak at this run and he really does looks well placed in this race.
Icebath has been racing well without winning this prep and she finished within 2.1 lengths of Flit in the Silver Eagle last start.
The 1600m may be an issue for her but she gets some weight relief from apprentice Tom Sherry and she will get a soft run in transit from barrier four.
