Super Rugby Australia Qualifying Final Tips & Preview

Ten rounds are done and dusted, and just three clubs remain in the hunt for the inaugural (and perhaps only) Super Rugby Australia crown.

The Queensland Reds have been a different side under the tutelage of Brad Thorn, and they enter the Super Rugby Australia Qualifying Final as clear and justifiable favourites.

The Rebels’ inconsistency almost led to an early exit, but they are fitting finalists in their own right and will be quietly confident of recording another upset win in Brisbane.

Who will meet the Brumbies in next weekend’s decider? You can find our Super Rugby Australia Qualifying final tips below.

Reds vs Rebels
Reds (-8.5)

The Reds enter Saturday’s match a clear second on the Super Rugby Australia ladder, having recorded five wins, a draw and two losses during the season, for a total of 25 competition points.

They weathered something of a flat patch in the middle of the season and have gone from strength to strength recently, culminating in an impressive win over the Brumbies last weekend.

The 26-7 victory was highlighted by several impressive standout performances, including the likes of Jock Campbell, while James O’Connor’s boot also made a world of difference.

They will be extremely confident in their chances of winning the whole thing, but simply cannot afford to overlook the Rebels.

The Rebels required just a small victory over the winless Force to gain passage into this Qualifying Final, but they did everything in their power not to get it.

The shaky performance saw the Rebels concede the first try, struggle to convert their chances and ultimately sneak home by literally the required four points.

They have proven that they are more than capable of competing with Australia’s best sides in 2020, and the belief is certainly there, but the Reds are probably a small class above, and nothing short of a season-best performance will be required of the Rebels this week.
