2020 Run To The Rose Day Tips & Preview

The feature race of the day is an absolute cracking race on paper as we see some of the best three year old’s do battle in the Run To The Rose.

There is plenty of quality racing taking place throughout the entire card at Rosehill on Saturday and our full 2020 Run To The Rose Day Tips & Preview can be found below.

Race 1: Everest Carnival On Sale Handicap (2400m) 12:15pm
No. 3 Cadre Du Noir

It’s impossible to not tip Cadre Du Noir in the opening race of the day at Rosehill after a truly dominant display last time out at Sandown.

She is getting short enough in betting but she should be winning and can start us off on the right foot.

Race 2: Highway Handicap (1400m) 12:50pm
No. 8 Yulong Base

I have an excellent record in these Highway races in recent weeks and Yulong Base looks the most obvious pick for mine.

The lightly raced five year old gelding from the Cody Morgan stable won this race at this track and distance only two weeks ago and he is being asked to carry less weight.

Race 3: Cleanaway Handicap (1800m) 1:25pm
No. 3 Yonkers

Yonkers was huge when resuming over the 1400m at Royal Randwick first up, finishing just one length from the smart McCormack in a hot form race.

His second up form reads well and I love the fact that he has had a trial in between runs.

Ms Louise Day is riding well and she will give him some weight relief also.

Race 4: Vale Rick Worthington Handicap (1100m) 2:00pm
No. 5 Masked Crusader

Masked Crusader was excellent when returning to the races first up at Randwick.

The talented gelding found one better when second to Varda on the heavy track but they beat home the rest of the field by a fair margin.

This is a very winnable race for him second up and anything over even money is a great bet.

Race 5: Listed Dulcify Quality (1500m) 2:40pm
No. 1 Global Quest

Global Quest has raced in only stakes company for his short four race career but is already a Group 3 winner and has placed a further two times.

Chris Waller obviously thinks the More Than Ready colt can get over some ground and is asking him to run over the 1500m first up but he has had three trials leading into this assignment.

His class will carry him a long way.

Race 6: Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) 3:15pm
No. 6 Farnan

The only blemish on this star colt’s record is when he had absolutely no luck in the Magic Millions Classic .

He has been utterly dominate aside from that race and he has a huge spring in front of him with nothing off limits.

We are going to go all Gai Waterhouse here and declare him in what is quite a hot little race.

Race 7: Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) 3:55pm
No. 6 Wild Planet

Wild Planet was held up at a crucial time when first up in the Show County and was restrained from about the 200 meter mark.

Despite Tommy Berry almost completely stopping riding, the horse still finished a nose behind Funstar who will start favourite for this event.

I think the 1300m is ideal for him and he has drawn perfectly in barrier four.

Race 8: Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) 4:35pm
No. 3 Mizzy & No. 5 Haut Brion Her

There are some quality mares contending the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes but I’ve landed on two that represent some value.

Mizzy was absolutely flying this time last year when she strung together three wins on the trot including back to back Group 2 races before placing in the Silver and Golden Eagle races.

Haut Brion Her is another progressive type of mare who went from strength to strength last prep culminating in a win in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes at Flemington.

Her trials leading into this first up assignment suggests she is ready to go fresh.

If you are playing the quaddie/multiples I would be including Positive Peace, Adelong, Subpoenaed and Zaniah.

Race 9: Rosehill Bowling Club Handicap (1500m) 5:15pm
No. 1 Entente

I have a bit of time for this Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained gelding.

He was left a bit flat footed when first up behind Prime Candidate on a very leader bias track and he will improve on that effort stepping up in distance here.

This is a much easier assignment than that race and Tim Clark can take the horse to the front from a good draw.
