Group 1 racing returns to The Valley on Friday for Moir Stakes Night.
Eight races are on the program, and you can find a preview of each along with my 2020 Moir Stakes Night tips below.
Endanger has only made one appearance at the races so far, but he could hardly have been more impressive on that occasion and he can return a winner at The Valley on Friday.
The Medaglia D’Oro gelding was sent of around a $5 shot on debut at Cranbourne, but absolutely blitz his rivals on the way to a near four-length win.
Any improvement on that effort would see him into the finish of something like that.
Express Pass has recorded two wins from as many starts this preparation and strikes another winnable one at The Valley on Friday.
The Wanjina gelding returned some decent efforts in good races last time in, but he has clearly gone to a new level this time in and has beaten home to good and in-form horses.
Fitter third-up and from the rails draw, he should be in the finish again.
There are some good horses engaged in this race, but if Alfa Oro jumps well, I think he’ll just be winning.
Nothing more to say about this one, I’m chips in.
This is a decent drop in class for the second-up Glenfiddich and he’s going to take a power of beating in the Group 2 Stutt Stakes.
The Fastnet Rock colt was a good horse during his two-year-old season, winning the Mornington Sires and finishing second in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes most notably.
His first-up effort this time to fill the minors behind Behemoth in the Memsie Stakes was clearly the best of his career so far however, and dropping back to three-year-olds company with improvement is exactly what I want to be following.
Dirty Thoughts hasn’t run a bad one this time in, and she can certainly measure up again in the Scarborough Stakes.
The Ellerton & Zahra-trained filly won each of her first three starts back from a spell, including one at this track and distance before filling the minors of the Listed Atlantic Jewel last time out.
She is in peak order for this race and is up to winning.
This is an excellent edition of the Ladbrokes JRA Cup and a horse like Mirage Dancer has claims on winning, at a lovely price ($8 at publish).
The Frankel entire returned some lovely efforts during his autumn preparation this year, and while he clearly needed the run when he finished midfield in the Listed Heatherlie when resuming this time, he tends to enjoy sharp improvement into his second-up starts.
Mark Zahra takes the ride and I am happy to have something on each-way.
This Moir Stakes is always an outstanding contest, and this year’s edition shapes as a particularly open one.
For the record, I am on Hanseatic each way, but you can read my full preview and all of my 2020 Moir Stakes tips RIGHT HERE.
Group 1 winner Aristia has continued to improve with racing this time, and I think a race like the Stocks Stakes looks lovely for her.
Aristia needed the run when beating just one rival home in the PB Lawrence, but she has since finished sixth in the Heatherlie and third in a 1700m Handicap at Flemington.
There are some good ones engaged including Mystic Journey, but I think that Aristia is over the odds at her current price ($11 at publish).
