Tempel One broke through for his maiden race win last start at Scone by a widening two and a half lengths and the step up to 1500m will only be an advantage in this event.
Ms Louise Day will give the colt some weight relief and with even luck from a tricky draw, they can kick start our day with a winner!
This is a really tough race to assess with many of these staying horses racing out of touch at the moment.
Grey Lion is capable of producing a rating high enough to win a race of this quality and I really liked his recent trial win where he was asked for an effort in the straight.
I recommend a small bet.
Entente has been ticking away nicely so far this prep and he is a horse that is crying out for further in my opinion.
The Dundeel gelding took out the Group 3 Carbine in the autumn before finishing third behind Kinane in the Packer Plate over 2000m.
Tim Clark will be forced to go to the front from the wide barrier which I see as a good thing.
I was originally with Lion’s Roar but the horse has been scratched so happy to have a small bet on Bucharest at a nice price.
The Deep Impact colt has won two of his three race starts and James McDonald will steer from barrier two.
Forbidden Love looked the winner at the 300 meter mark in the Group 2 Furious Stakes at Randwick last start before Dame Giselle and Hungry Heart stormed over the top.
They are two very good fillies and she will appreciate both the step back in grade as well as distance for this assignment.
She will get a lovely run throughout from barrier three and her class will carry her a long way.
Both horses I liked in this race have been scratched in Subpoenaed and Just Thinkin’!
Scarlet Dream has been runner up in all four of her first up attempts and although this is very much short of her ideal distance, I think she represents good value.
The Group 1 Golden Rose is always a cracking race and this year’s edition is no exception.
North Pacific is an outstanding looking individual who has competed in high quality races all throughout his short career to date.
Rothfire was the beneficiary of a lovely run in transit in the Run To The Rose when chasing the tear away leader Farnan, but this colt was doing his best work late once the race was all but over.
He has the added benefit of race fitness on his side and he represents a touch of overs at his current price of $5.50.
I have no doubt Haut Brion Her is a Group 1 mare and she is headed that way this spring.
If they couldn’t beat her last start in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes with fitness on their side, I can’t see them beating her in this.
She carries no extra weight into this contest and the wide barrier will not be an issue as she will roll forward anyway.
Barring any bad luck in running, I she just wins and then it is onward and upwards form there.
He has not been the punter’s favourite horse in both his runs so far this prep having been beaten as favourite on both occasions.
He has run into some very good quality benchmark races with horse that are clearly on their way through to better things.
This race does not have as much depth as his last couple of assignments and I think today is the day for him.
