We’re at the halfway point of Super Rugby Australia and five rounds in, the big story for the back end of the season is working out who, if anyone, can catch the Brumbies?
This week they take on a Melbourne Rebels side that might just be coming into their own after back to back victories.
In the other game it’s rugby’s traditional rivalry as the Waratahs host the Reds at the SCG.

Still unbeaten at the halfway point of Super Rugby Australia, the Brumbies pulled off one of the all-time great escapes on Saturday night.
They will want to leave no doubt when they take on a Rebels side that looks like they might be coming into their own after recording the first “Super Time” win of the competition.
When these sides met in Round 1, it was the Brumbies coming away 31-23 winners and it’s tough to back against them here.
Even with the Rebels on the rise, I won’t back against the visitors until they lose a game, they have been the best side in the competition to date.
When these sides met a month ago in Brisbane it was one of the more entertaining games of the season with the Reds winning on the back of two James O’Connor penalties.
The Reds are still yet to put together a full 80 minutes this season almost pulling themselves out of an early 14-0 hole last week against the Brumbies only to go down on a late penalty themselves for their first defeat of the competition.
While the Reds have shown plenty of potential in flashes, the Waratahs have been largely appalling for the bulk of this competition so it’s just about worth writing them off here.
The thing is though, the Reds aren’t quite there yet in terms of putting games to bed so expect a few nervous moments as Brad Thorn’s side closes out a tight win.
