The Borough has returned some excellent performances recently and strikes another winnable race at Port Macquarie this afternoon.
The Pierro gelding recorded consecutive wins at Tamworth and Scone two and three starts back, and was last seen filling the minors over a mile and in BM58 company.
He’s rock-hard fit and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.
Groot hasn’t been seen at the races since February, but he has contested far better races than this previously and can make a winning return.
The Fighting Sun gelding returned several pleasing efforts last preparation, highlighted by consecutive placings in good company here at Pakenham.
This looms as a reasonably open contest and Groot can win.
Gold Bracelet hasn’t been seen at the races since March, but she is a proven first-up performer and races well on a rain-affected track.
The Strategic Maneuver mare has recorded two wins and a close-up second placing from just four career starts, and ended her debut prep with a smart win over 1000m at Taree.
She’s drawn a peach in barrier 5 and is my best bet of the day.
This also looks a wide-open contest Valentina Star has live claims on winning at a price ($11 at publish).
The Your Song mare had a brief spell after finishing down the order at Mornington, and clearly needed the run when seventh at Murtoa last month.
I’m expecting her to enjoy good improvement for that effort and she is certainly up to the class of something like this.
