The A-League’s dash to the finish line continues this week with a Wednesday Semi Final double header at Bankwest Stadium.
It gets underway with the Victorian derby between Melbourne City and Western United before the premiers Sydney FC begin their quest to win a Grand Final at the home of their cross-town rivals when they take on Perth Glory.
We’ve studied the markets and come up with a pair of Same Game Multis for both A-League Semi Finals below.
If there was ever a time for Melbourne City to move on from their frustrating history as Melbourne Heart, this is the match to do it.
After their best ever finish in the A-League’s regular season, they have a phenomenal chance to make the Grand Final against a Western United side that will be less than 72 hours removed from their last match.
It was a bruising, draining game against the Roar and it’s hard to imagine Mark Rudan’s side not being at least a bit (metaphorically) hungover after their exertions there.
So the question for this match then is can City shake off the ghosts of Heart past and advance to their first ever A-League Grand Final?
The market seems to think that there’s a chance that they will as the 90 minute result is much closer than expected considering the respective build ups.
I’ll back a City themed SGM for this one as I just don’t see Western United having the legs to stick with them here.
Look for City to get the job done in 90 minutes on the back of Golden Boot winner Jamie Maclaren.
