Super Rugby Australia Round 5 Tips & Previews

Super Rugby Australia Round 5 Tips & Previews

By 9pm Saturday night, we will be halfway through Super Rugby Australia and the hierarchy of the teams participating will be much clearer.

The Western Force will either have their first victory of the season or be staring down the barrel of a competition bagel.

In the other match it’s a top of the table clash as the Reds visit the Brumbies, looking to steal top spot off the best Australian team over the last few years.

Check out our tips and previews for both games here.

Force v Rebels
Rebels to Cover -9.5 @ $1.88

Maybe the Rebels have finally woken up after collecting their first win of Super Rugby Australia last weekend.

Despite the 19 point scoreline, the Rebels had to rely on the boot of Matt Toomua to get over the line, nailing five penalties and two conversions, making the difference over the Tahs.

It looks like the Force bubble burst as well drawing blanks against the Brumbies and while the Rebels aren’t quite at that same level, this should still be a pretty clear mismatch.

Brumbies v Reds
Brumbies by 1-12

After a bye week of self correction to sort out their issues, the Reds are looking to continue their unbeaten start to Super Rugby Australia.

This will be the biggest test Brad Thorn’s men face in the entire competition, travelling to chilly Canberra to take on an unbeaten Brumbies side, fresh off a suffocating 24-0 win over the Western Force.

Despite an up and down performance in Round 1 of the original Super Rugby, the Reds still ran the Brumbies close in January, going down 31-24.

It’s tough to back against the Brumbies but the Reds have the firepower to keep things close, even with a leaky defence that has conceded 68 points in their three matches so far.
