Three weeks after their Kiwi counterparts, Super Rugby Australia is ready to go this weekend!
It starts off with the traditional rivals, Queensland and New South Wales facing off at Suncorp Stadium before the Brumbies host the likely competition nomads, the Melbourne Rebels.
We’re tipping every Super Rugby Australia game over the 10 rounds of play, see who we’re taking in both matches below!
The Reds have not defeated the Waratahs since July 2013 and may never have a better chance to end that run of 11 straight defeats here.
Before Super Rugby shut down in March, it was quite clear the Tahs were in the early stages of a major overhaul and the squad that will take to the park on Friday night is even younger than the one from earlier this year.
As for the Reds, they showed signs of improvement in 2020 with their last start belting of the Bulls still very much lingering.
While the Tahs do have that unpredictability in their side that comes with youth, I’ll back the well drilled Reds side to win out where it matters most.
The Rebels might have been performing better than expected in 2020 but there is a pretty clear gulf in class between them and their hosts on Saturday evening.
Heading to Canberra in the dead of winter is an unpleasant proposition for just about every visiting side and with everything going on in the Rebels home state, there is every chance they won’t be at the races while they await confirmation of their short term future.
In Round 2 of the original Super Rugby 2020 competition we successfully backed the Brumbies by 13+ and will take that again as the best side in Australia wins out.
