Randwick Tips & Preview – Saturday 4th July

We’ve managed to find plenty of value on the card at Royal Randwick so tell the missus you are busy for the afternoon and/or get the lads around and park your chairs in front of the TV for an afternoon on the punt.

Our full preview can be found here.

Race 1: Newhaven Park Handicap (1300m) 11:35am
No. 5 Faretti

The Waterhouse & Bott trained Faretti has been freshened up leading into this assignment on Saturday.

I like the fact that the I Am Invincible filly has had a barrier trial between runs in which which she won by 3.5 lengths.

She can kick start our day on a very good note.

Race 2: Highway Handicap (1000m) 12:10pm
Boxed Tri - 5/7/9/10

I couldn’t narrow this bunch of sprinters down to just the one to back so let’s have a throw at the stumps and box them all up.

Stuff it, it’s early in the day.

Race 3: Grunt Standing At Yulong Handicap (1100m) 12:45pm
No. 2 Switched

Switched seems to continue finding many and varied ways of being beaten and has now incredibly been placed, without winning, at his last five starts.

best bet
Race 4: Quincy Seltzer Handicap (1800m) 1:20pm
No.7 Mr Dependable

Mr Dependable was not beaten far behind Agassi in a hot little form race last time out at Randwick.

The son of Reliable Man will not have a problem stepping up in distance and he drops down a considerable 4kgs from that last start effort.

The grey gelding has drawn perfectly and he is the best bet of the day for mine.

Race 5: Ranvet Handicap (1000m) 1:55pm
No. 6 Longbottom

With the scratching of Broken Arrows I’ve landed on Longbottom who has been racing well this prep. There looks to be a fair amount of pace in the race which may set it up for those sitting just off the speed.

Race 6: Benchmark 78 Handicap (2400m) 2:30pm
Box Tri 3/10/11/13

This is another race with many winning chances and I’m happy to box up four in a trifecta looking for a pay day.

Elaborate looks the obvious one however there are a few that are proven at the distance that I can see featuring.

Race 7: Sky Racing Active Handicap (1400m) 3:10pm
No. 9 Threeood

Threeood was not given every chance by James McDonald (who was subsequently suspended for not riding the horse out) last start and Rachel King gains the ride for this event.

The talented mare would not have won the race but would have finished a lot closer and she looks the obvious one in a race that lacks a lot of depth.

Race 8: Heineken 3 Handicap (1300m) 3:50pm
No. 2 Rari

Rari returned to the track with a nice fifth behind Outback Diva on the heavy track at Rosehill.

He was beaten just 1.4 lengths in that race and will only improve second up with the added fitness.

Race 9: Drinkwise Mile (1600m) 4:30pm
Boxed Tri 1/3/8/10

Another tough way to finish the day with many winning hopes so let’s finish with a bang!
