Just as Game Week 36 of the Premier League comes to a close, Game Week 37 sparks into life!
The fight for the Top Four has never been as fierce, with Chelsea, Leicester and Man U all gunning for the last two places.
The Foxes run into an inform Spurs outfit, United hope to bolster their goal difference against the inconsistant Hammers, while Lampard’s kids take on the hungover Champions in the final match of the round!
Our in-house Premier League Prophet has once again previewed all ten fixtures of Game Week 37 and extracted every last drop of value from a betting perceptive!
The action gets underway at Carrow Road on Sunday morning when Burnley clash with Norwich.
The Clarets are looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches, while the Canaries will be attempting to salvage a molecule of self respect before they bow out of the league.
Burnley won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Turf Moor, with Chris Wood claiming a brace.
Sean Dyche’s team have only conceded three goals across their unbeaten run and will be confident of claiming another clean sheet here.
It’s do-or-die for the Cherries as the prepare to take on the Saints at home.
Bournemouth have rediscovered a lick of form over the past three game weeks, but it might well be a case of too little too late, with three points and four goals separating them from the Hornets in 17th (at publish).
The Cherries were unlucky not to take anything away from their GW36 against City, spooning several opportunities to find an equaliser.
Meanwhile the Saints are quietly going about their business, losing just once from their last seven fixtures since the resumption of play.
The Saints have the fifth best record away from home this season (8-4-6) and will be looking to get on the front foot early and help their veteran striker Danny Ings to a fairytale golden boot award!
A strong finish to the season could see Southhampton sneak inside the top 10, a huge achievement for a side who were destroyed 9-0 by the Foxes back in GW11.
This match may be a huge determining factor in the make up of the top four come seasons end.
Leicester held off an inform Blades outfit on Friday morning to retain their spot in the top four and sit above Man U on goal difference alone.
While, the Spurs have re-entered the season swinging! Jose’s side has only lost one from their last seven and are starting to look fluid in attack.
Kane and Son were both on the score sheet again, with the English Captain claiming his third brace of the season.
The home side has won this fixture in four of the past five outings, with both teams scoring on each of those occasions.
While Jose would probably enjoy seeing United miss out on the top four, I think he’d love crashing the Foxes party just as much!
One of the least significant matches of the round comes in the form of Brighton vs Newcastle.
Barring absolute implosion, the Seagulls look to have secured their place in the top tier next season, but a point here would put their survival beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Meanwhile, Newcastle look to be content with a mid-table finish, Steve Bruces team has now lost three matches on the trot and are just happy to coast home.
Brighton are undefeated against the Toons in the Premier League, claiming two wins and three draws across their five game history.
Both teams would gladly take the draw heading into this match and I believe that’s exactly how this fixture will play out.
Everton have been a bloody nightmare to watch this season, they are the club embodiment of Adel Taarabt, oozing with talent, but trash nonetheless.
The Blades were visibly fatigued in their clash against the Foxes on Friday morning (AEST), Chris Wilder’s side have been punching well above their weight this season and it’s finally starting to tell.
Everton have drawn their past two outings away to Sheffield and as much as it pains me to tip a stalemate once let alone in consecutive matches, I can’t see either team taking this game by the scruff of the neck.
The Wolves had their top four hopes dashed by a 96th minute Chris Wood penalty in GW36, but they still have plenty left to play for, with four teams still vying for Europa League qualification.
Crystal Palace threatened Man U’s goals on several occasions during their last fixture, but ultimately fell to their sixth straight defeat!
The Wolves destructive front three of Jimenez, Traore and Jota should have a field day against the Eagles severely depleted defensive unit here.
Regardless of what’s at stake or which squad is hungrier, healthier or happier, this fixture has looks a forgone conclusion.
The Hornets have never claimed a point against the Citizens from a total of nine attempts.
Pep’s side have banged in 21 goals across their last five fixtures vs Watford, while conceding just three times across that trip.
Most recently the Sky Blues sent the Hornets back into the showed realm with a convincing 8-0 display, where even the ball boy managed to get on the score sheet!
Anything bar a win here will spell the end of Aston Villa’s Premier League residency.
The Villans were undone by Theo Walcott’s 87th minute equaliser in GW36, leaving the squad visibly dejected at the final whistle, likely resigned to their imminent return to the Championship.
Meanwhile, the Gunners pulled off another upset, seeing off a hungover Reds outfit, despite only registering three shots on target to Liverpools 21!
The Gunners have won the last five matches agains Villa at an absolute canter, and with the Hosts desperate to win, I’m expecting a high scoring end to end contest!
One side is battling for survival (at Publish), while the other is attempting to crack the top four.
The Hammers last tasted victory at Old Trafford on 13 May 2007, that match finished 0-1 with Carlos Tevez putting away the winner, while United’s starting striker was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer himself!
Here’s another piece of trivia for you.
Q. Which player will lace up his boots for both the 2007 and this weekends fixture between Man U and West Ham?
A. Mark Noble.
Let’s get back on track, United are undefeated in their last 19 matches across all competitions (12 in the PL) and are playing attractive football once again, at least more attractive than what they produced under Moyes.
West Ham are enjoying a pinch of form themselves, though they are still miles away from the quality United have been serving up week in and week out.
Game Week 37 comes to a close on Thursday morning (AEST) as Chelsea present the Reds with the Premier League trophy at Anfield.
Since the return on play, the once formidable Reds have dropped ten points from seven games, and look as though they have checked out for the season.
Alternatively Chelsea have everything to play for, with a win all but securing their position inside the top 4.
Unfortunately for the Blues, they face the daunting task of defeating the Reds at Anfield, a feat no side has achieved since Crystal Palace in April 2017!
I’m expecting Lampard to have one ye on their final match of the season against the Wolves, with a few of the starting 11 set to miss out.
