The Listed Winter Stakes is the feature race of the day at Rosehill on Saturday in what looks a cracking race with plenty of winning chances.
We’ve run through all nine races on the program and offered our thoughts below.
North Pacific was smashed in early betting suggesting the colt is going to race well fresh.
I thought Thudson was very impressive at Ballarat on debut back in March and he ran a very slick time over the 1100m in the process.
He drops down in weight from that win and will only improve each time he goes to the races.
My Swashbuckler has now had the two runs in Australia since coming over from France and he gets out to a more suitable distance now.
He was only 2.1 lengths behind Agassi at Randwick last start and he has been very well supported in early betting suggesting he will run well.
Cody Morgan saddles up another Highway Handicap winner in a race that he has had some success in.
Blazing Tycoon has won three of his 10 career race starts and the lightly raced four year old gelding has plenty of improvement left in him.
He will jump from barrier five with Ms Louise Day steering and looks value at the $6.00 available at time of publish.
Steel Diamond meets many of the horses that she beat just two weeks ago in this race.
She went over the line with her ears pricked to score by half a length and although she meets most of them worse at the weights, I think she still has a bit of improvement left in her.
Zaniah has managed three wins and three minor placings from nine career race starts and is a lightly raced mare with plenty of upside.
Varda could not have been more impressive when winning by five lengths first up at Canterbury.
I can’t split the two so box them up to finish 1 and 2 for some value!
This is a very competitive benchmark 78 event with plenty of winning chances.
Box the first 4 in the field up and cross the fingers!
Trumbull will meet a few of these worse at the weights for winning the Civic Stakes but I simply can’t go past the talented four year old gelding.
He has been very consistent all the way through this prep and his Listed race win was much deserved.
He can win again in a race that doesn’t offer a lot of depth.
True Detective is the obvious one for me in this race having won two in a row including at this grade last time out.
The form out of that race has stacked up with Trumbull winning at Listed level since.
I have to have something on You Make Me Smile as I think he is more than capable at this level and I’ll be praying that Kathy O’Hara gets the horse closer to the speed from a good draw. Will be better at 1200m also.
Stella Sea Sun looks the one in the final event of the day at Rosehill.
The Redoute’s Choice mare was impressive lumping the big weight at Randwick last start when scoring by half a length and she gets a few favours in this.
She has drawn perfectly in barrier three and Ms Louise Day will use her claim for some weight relief.
