Round 4 v Adelaide

Round 4 v Adelaide

The GABBA this Sunday afternoon will have all the feels of a family reunion as 10,000 of the Lions faithful return through the gates for what will be a truly special day.

It was wonderful to just have 2000 of us last Saturday night as the boys got the job done with a convincing 30-point win over the West Coast Eagles.

Glorious scenes await us this Sunday as the mighty Brisbane Lions (proudly sponsored by Neds) take the Adelaide Crows to the sword, making it three from three in our beautiful run at home.

She’s tough times at the Adelaide Crows, but in the words of former Port Adelaide coach and inaugural Brisbane Bear Mark Williams* now is the time to SHOW NO MERCY

Charlie Cameron Cup
Brisbane Lions by 60+ @ $4.25

The Charlie Cameron Cup is always a highlight of the football year and this year is no exception.

While it’s easy to go in confident into this game, you have to remind yourself that the Crows have actually won four out of their past five against us so we can’t get complacent.

Adelaide has scored 35 and 29 points since the season resumed and look a shadow of their former selves, but it wasn’t that long ago our Lions were in a similar position.

But enough about the Crows.

Last week was a reminder as to how good this team can be and the form line reads as a top-four team in the mighty Lions, taking on a cellar-dweller.

With the shorter season, winning means more as does percentage.

Our Lions need to make hay while the sun shines and this is an ample opportunity to feast on a wounded Pride of South Australia.

We also welcome back our skipper in the squad and no doubt Zorks will come out breathing fire, ready to get right back into it and lead the team to an emphatic win.

Not getting ahead of ourselves here, but Lions by 10+ goals. Easily.

STARC(evich) reminder
Brandon Starcevich Any Time Goal Kicker

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with Brandon Starcevich’s improvement this season and it looks as though the youngster, who was a major part of the Lions NEAFL team is cementing his spot in the senior side.

His performance against Freo a couple of weeks ago with 17 disposals was some of his best and that goal from outside 50 at the end of the first quarter last week was a bloody ripper.

Our boys showed last week that we don’t need to rely on Charlie Cameron or Eric Hipwood to make an impact on the scoreboard and can share the love around as we play the ultimate team game.

I reckon young Starcevich has another sausage roll in him this Sunday.

Brisbane: L Neale 3 Votes
Lachie Neale 30+ Disposals

If Sunday’s game goes to script, expect 2020 Brownlow medalist Lachie Neale to suffer another severe case of leather poisoning.

Lachie has been in fine form so far this season and with the Lions expected to dominate, it’s fair to assume that Neale will be right amongst the action.

10,000 Lions fans are in for a Lachie Neale masterclass this Sunday and another 30+ touches sounds about right.
